Brings out the worst in people. Bring it on

True. Loads of people with the ache over very little, but I like it!

SixSpotBurnet · 05/09/2008 16:56

I hate it and for ages I didn't even have it coming up on my threads. (Am still scarred over one I started, when it turned out that (in the eyes of some posters anyway) IWBU (and it pertained to special needs, and I was just asking for trouble, I know, but it still upset me).

I do look at them now but I find it all a bit repellent.

Janos · 05/09/2008 16:59

YABU

I love AIBU

AIBU to love it?

Blu · 05/09/2008 17:02

SixSpot - I really feel that AIBU alters the whole tone of MN for the worse.
It was a good joke when it was introduced, but it encourages whinginess, judginess, confrontation, shallow discussion, mob mentality, obvioulsy anyone who fails to entertain that they might be BU is by definition U, and it gives MN a fractious moany atmosphere.

Down with AIBU!

Monkeytrousers · 05/09/2008 17:05

OMG feminist theology - we'd need Madeline Bunting to reconcile them conundra (if such a collection of words makes any sense)

Blu, I have felt the spread of the AIBU tone into other threads - ones where people want sym[pathy and advice not a roasting. That's a pity I find. That some people just can't control themselves or their bile.

maidamess · 05/09/2008 17:09

I put the idea foward last week for a 'ranters corner'...you offload, no one can reply and its deleted in 2 hours.

Monkeytrousers · 05/09/2008 17:14

lol

I like it

v dangerous habit though

OP posts:
Janos · 05/09/2008 17:15

Ranters corner sounds like a good idea.

Agree about the biliousness of some posters though. Not nice.

Blu · 05/09/2008 17:19

Yes - I agree with the Rising Bile theory - far more pernicious than rising damp.

A 'Rant and Vent' section with a very very short half life might work....

ScottishMummy · 05/09/2008 17:26

aibu-the rules of engagement are post but dont get humphy when folk yell yabu and do expect divergent forthright opinions

how would ranters corner differ?don't fancy that it self combusts in 2hrs.the whole point is watching a rant unfold, all the nefarious details, the squawking.rants are fun if they go on and on on

a time limited rant - isn't that confession

the mirth of AIBU is perhaps im some parallel alternative universe the OP believes they are serene and wholly reasonable and really cant get why other's don't agree

Twelvelegs · 05/09/2008 17:30

I enjoy the place that my pregnancy hormones have a place to escape, be unreasonable and then tuck up inside until the next time. It is cheaper than therapy. I do hate it when people are very personal and call names or imply people are stupid, yuck.

Monkeytrousers · 05/09/2008 17:31

at least we wouldnt get any 'oh this defaces spirit of Mn' or something - that beibg the point

OP posts:
DaddyJ · 05/09/2008 17:34

Rising bile?
Thought this place has always been this lively.

Were people all nice to each other in the old days then?
They have probably all left for The Other Place.

ScottishMummy · 05/09/2008 17:41

maybe i likey the rising bile AIBU full of ravers, the mouth foamer's,the twist any ole sentence crew some posters constantly are humpy and can reduce any thread to a scrap,or snipe about punctuation (usually when unable to sustain a coherent conversation)sniping about punctuation/syntax is like being in the last chance saloon and they just rung the "yer arse is oot the windae yer talkin crap bell" so the poster has one last oh it is their not there tizzy

SixSpotBurnet · 05/09/2008 22:08

No, no, Blu and I are still here being nice to each other. And quite a lot of other nice Original Gangsters (sorry, posters) - you can find a lot of them on WWW's 10 years younger threads!
