My dd2 was seen at eye clinic 2 months ago as routinue due to family history. They found out she needs glasses.
Now the doc there said she had to refer to GP and then he had to refer back again (something about funding).

Anyways after about 9 calls today, finally found out it took GP nearly 2 months to refer, BUT he doesnt refer to hosptail but some sort of office place that then send a letter out with numbers and choice of hospitals for me to choose. Then I ring choosen hospital myself and make an appointment!!

how bloodly stupid can it get?? Why not just give me the letter 2 months ago?! in the mean time my poor DD cant pick things up as she doesnt focus right

Completely. In all the time that takes your DD's eyes are getting worse not better and she could develop a lazy eye. You can take her to the optician though and explain the problem. If she doesn't have a lazy eye problem and only needs glasses (ie not patching) then they can sort her out no problem and it's all on the NHS.

Thats ridiculous. When DS1 was referred to the eye clinic I got an appointment within a couple of weeks and it was all sorted within a couple of months. He's got his glasses and all is fine. You shouldn't have to wait, not on at all.

Thypical of the health system. All about procedures and paperwork and not about the poor suffering patient
