How old are your dc? you probably ABU if they are school age. Mine are 3yr, 2yr and 4mths and I find it very diff to do housework but I have to and never get any time when they are not around.

oh what do you mean by housework? I mean the everyday things, that's enough, other things get done VERY rarely, if ever.

I didn't do much housework over the summer.

Result= Kids went back to school, I vaccumed the carpets, mowed the lawn and ended up not getting to sleep for ages due to the pain in my arm.

so i do dishwasher, laundry, tidying, hoovering, bins etc daily.

weekly- clean toilets and sink

Clean whole bathroom every 2 weeks.

Change bed sheets every 2 weeks

Mop kitchen floor- when someone is coming to stay

Washing clothes, ironing (as I go along), cleaning up after dinner etc, loading/unloading dishwasher, getting kids to tidy their toys etc

What I have'nt done, given ANY room a really good clean, no hoovering, dusting etc

We are all v. untidy - so house is a mess. Have friend coming tommorrow.

Wouldn't bother me - haven't done any for aaages, mostly because of a certain 9mo who has ishoos with being left on his own for more than 10 minutes (the perfect excuse!)

Although, the bathroom floor does need a hoover - too many bits of cotton lint from the nappy pads (clean of course!!) - but DH does the hoovering because of my sciatica and he refuses to do it more than once a month because he thinks it "compromises his manhood" !

I can totally relate to that! We had an estate agent round this morning as we are thinking of selling so the house is cleaner/tidier than it's been in months. Is lovely

I have also just done a big sort out of dc's clothes so their drawers are all neat and tidy and all the too small clothes have been removed and sorted. [smug emoticon]

Yes, it is getting to me. But maybe I just need a kick up the rear. I want someone to fly me - or whatever it's called. He, he.

I am the opposite, I do too much so YANBU. Enjoy not having to worry about it as I truly wish I could switch off for even one day. I think I have a problem...

Tomorrow, just do one job, maybe hoover the whole house and mop. Then day after clean bathrooms top to bottom. I tend to do a job properly or not at all ifkwim.

I would consider a cleaner but you have to tidy for them

pgwithnumber3 - actually that last bit of your post is part of my problem - I can't just do a little bit, I want to do it properly which takes 4 times as long and so I don't get as much done and usually create havoc in the process, which then exhausts me and I have been known to leave things in a worse state than when I started because I tried to do too much at once!

Ahh thumbwitch, the whirlwind effect! My MIL accused me of being a whirlwind and not finishing a room off before moving on to the next. SOOO, do one room at a time. I am very neat and do keep everything in its place and when I have had a shower etc, I put all the bottles away and wipe the sink. It means that when I go back in later, it isn't a tip. It is just keeping on top of everything. Then I don't have to wonder around the house looking at the state of it.

Aaah, most housework is NOT NECESSARY. The fuss made about it is about keeping women in their place. As long as you can find a clean pair of pants when you want them and a clean plate to eat off, and have a rough idea of where things are, it will do.

I'm with Quentin Crisp, it doesn't get much worse after about 3 months.

ABU now. I have a couple of neat freak friends and always feel a wee bit green eyed after visting their perfect houses.
