Or actually, on any bus. Just spent 40mins listening to a teenager describing shagging her girlfriend's mum, at one point she turned around and looked at us all, then said to her girlfriend (who is called Bridget btw, she is having coffee with their friend James at the moment) 'yes there are about 20 people on the bus, I should really shut up'. She didn't though. grrrrrr.

In theory YANBU but a teenager shagged her gf's mum? The trashy magazine reader in me would want to hear that one!

EelCod · 25/08/2008 15:55

Hang on. She was talking to her friend about shagging said friend's mother? I'd have been listening in to that conversation I think...

beansmum · 25/08/2008 15:57

very weird, I couldn't work out if she was serious or not, but either way it's a strange thing to be talking about with your girlfriend.

So these were lesbian girls and one girl had shagged the other's mum?

I sort of want to know how the hell that happened which is quite weird.

But it is stupid of her to talk about her sordid affairs so loudly but everyone's stupid when they're teenagers.

AvenaLife · 25/08/2008 16:26

Defenatly a wind up, why should she be looking round to see people's expressions if it wasn't?

Fabeelo · 25/08/2008 16:29

I think one of them dared the other to do it.

I would have leant forward and said Please keep your voice down, you are titillating the older lesbians on the bus and if you don't shut it they'll frig themselves senseless and rattle the bus through the nearest shop window.

And then I would've slapped their heads together and said fgs haven't you got holiday homework to be doing.

No, you're being entirely reasonable. I turned round a couple of times to glare at a woman (aged approx 22) on a bus the other week. She was on her mobile, first discussing with a friend whether or not to chuck her boyfriend, and if so what to say. Then she phoned the poor bloke and chucked him. (And she lied. And swore.) Then she rang her friend back and I turned round, briefly, again. She said to her friend "hang on, I'll call you back in a minute", and to me "have you got a problem?". I said, "Actually, yes. I'm trying to read my book and I can't". She said "I'm not talking loudly", to which I replied, "No, but it's loud enough for everyone on the bus to hear you chuck your boyfriend and tell him to f-off. So perhaps this wasn't the place to have that conversation." She didn't ring her friend back. At least, not until she'd got off the bus.

pmsl fabeelo! And tilia I like your style

LittleBella · 25/08/2008 21:54

You are all unreasonable. I LOVE hearing about people's private affairs on public transport. It livens everything up. I especially enjoy it when a fellow passenger proffers unsolicited advice, is then contradicted by another passenger, and then everyone joins in and organises hapless mobile phone user's life. Excellent entertainment.

I love random mobile conversations on buses

especially the Downtrodden Male trying to placate his she-wolf of a girlfriend (seem to get those a lot)

EffiePerine · 25/08/2008 21:59

strongly suspect she was making it up though - maybe suggest a more interesting plotline?

scottishmummy · 25/08/2008 22:13

LOL oh come on i unfortunately travel with dull functional "i am on the bus" she sounds saucy
