To think that a size 16 is not fat

I mean I would say this, as I am surprisingly enough a size 16.

When I was younger I dieted, starved and fought myself into a size 10-12. I just can't be bothered anymore. My DH seems to like my curves and I feel it is only society that deems I should be thinner.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with a size 10-12 BTW but I think some women are naturally smaller sizes than others

I want to stand up to all this size 0 shit! Why can't we just be the size we are without feeling inadequate.

What do you all think?
How do you feel about your size?
What is your opinion of other's size?

Am I harking on about nothing or should Mnetters stand up and embrace their curves/lumps/bumps

And that is not having a go at anyone who wants to lose weight btw. Just hate how we always tie ourselves in knots over this, that's all.

I'm only a size twelve but just about to edge into the 'overweight' section in the BMI tables.

I had gestational diabetes during my pregnancies and I've been told that being even half a stone over my ideal weight (which is about a stone less than I am now) increases my risk of developing type II diabetes from about 20% to 30 - 40%.

Lean is healthiest for most people.

Collectively the British are carrying many thousands of tonnes of adipose tissue. You really notice how bloody fat we are compared with the Germans, French people and the Spanish. It does worry me - a lot. The NHS is going to collapse under the strain of treating all the extra cancers, strokes and diabetes that come with all that extra fat.

I'm a size twelve, and about half s stone overweight I have huge boobs and a big bum so that's a couple of pounds at least.

I'm reasonably fit and walk a lot.

I'm very healthy and virtually never get sick.

I have been thinner but.....this appears to my natural size.

I understand that people want to lose weight for health reasons and to feel good about themsleves. It's a real shame there has to be all this endless hand wringing about it.

Appears to be..sorry.

I don't think I've ever known anybody size 0/4 in real life!! I had a friend who was size 6 when we were in our twenties, but I can hardly imagine being any thinner...

Twelvelegs · 16/10/2008 18:45

I was a size 4 when I was 22-24, looking back at photos I looked vile.... even my very small ears stuck out and my eyes bulged a little (I usually have quite chinese looking eyes!). I don't think I've ever known anyone a size 4 that looked normal.

Liffey · 16/10/2008 18:54

I think all those slebs must have just photographed alrightish but looked emaciated in real life.

Did you have to buy children's clothes? I used to do that sometimes when I was about 19-23. Then maybe I got a big bigger and clothes ranges started to include an 8 more often. Size ten to twelve now so not a problem!!! But I had bits and pieces from children's ranges for years.

I'm only five foot one though. So obviously some of the lengthes were ok. NOt an option if taller.
