Every year I plan a lovely school hols, me and the kids long summer days....
If it rains then the dc playing ludo Enid Blyton style .Baking cakes flying kites and all laughing gayly.
The reality?
Day two, them fighting, me shouting.
Day three me ringing round play schemes to see if there are any spaces!
Does that make me a shit mum?

Mine aren't old enough for playschemes yet. But I LOVED them when I was a kid. Who wants to spend their summer being shouted at by a grumpy 'I'm a teacher, I have to speak to children all year, go away and watch 'Why don't you..' mother when you could be visiting the seaside, playing table football with the fit boy who won't speak to you at school or making up dance routines to ' I got chills (they're multiplying)'. As a grumpy mother myself I shall be sending mine to playschemes as soon as they are old enough.
