I know it isnt illegal but surely its wrong morally?

I was at the park on Friday with my PFB (!) who is 7 months and we were on the swings when a set of grandparents turned up with a little boy who looked to be about 2 years old. They sat him on the swing next to my DD and the woman lit a cigarette and proceeded to smoke.

The park was full of children.

I think its really wrong?

Interestingly myself and two other mums did have a drunken picnic in the park a couple of weeks ago. I thought, because it was Pinot Grigio we were drinking, that it was all very midlle class and fabulous. Am I now to discover that I actually looked like a bit of a ned? The wine was cunningly disguised in plastic picnic set glasses. Opinions please ladies. And be honest, I have broad shoulders

expatinscotland · 17/08/2008 21:46

HT, teens will try anything on, though.

expatinscotland · 17/08/2008 21:46

you're a nedette, shoot. go and get 'Senga' tattoed on your forearm now .

Rhonds · 17/08/2008 21:47

shoot was the wine and food organic?

SilkCutMama · 17/08/2008 21:49

Oh shoot you will be fine with this question - noone will have a problem

Anyone who has ever taken alcohol to a picnic thinks they are being terribly middle class and sophisticated

shootfromthehip · 17/08/2008 21:50

I will rush upstairs and polish my favourite 'MUM' ring and earrings .

And can I just ask if no-one else here was a bored teenager who smoked, drank, took drugs and indulged in naughty behaviour in parks? Again, I am finding out things about myself tonight. Senga it is then!

ravenAK · 17/08/2008 21:51

I'm with shoegazer.

Go & stand OUTSIDE the play area & have your fag. How difficult's that?

It does stink & it is a bit gross. Fine, it's legal. So's farting in bed. Doesn't mean anyone in your immediate vicinity is going to appreciate it!

Rhonds · 17/08/2008 21:51

YOU ARE THE ONLY ONE :O

ginnny · 17/08/2008 21:51

Its what you drink it from.
From a nice picnic glass, out of a bottle in a wicker hamper is very middle class and OK.
Drinking from a can while smoking a fag is unacceptable !!

expatinscotland · 17/08/2008 21:52

all 9ct, of course, shoot. don't forget your clown pendant!

shootfromthehip · 17/08/2008 21:53

Honestly, only do 'organic' wine if it's on special at the co-op.

Will have to ditch any attempt to be urbane and sophisticated with Winnie the pooh plastic glasses. Boo

Rhonds · 17/08/2008 21:53

Not if you stick to mead in future

expatinscotland · 17/08/2008 21:56

you used your children's cups to drink alcohol, shoot?!

ach, the morals of today!

shootfromthehip · 17/08/2008 21:56

Mead. LOL. Where do you live and what century is it there?

Oh I love MN. Where else could I be partonised, chastised, condoned and amused all at once. Fabulous. Just fabulous xxx

Portofino · 17/08/2008 21:57

Sorry - world is going mad! Everyone now has to drive their kids to school causing more pollution - which is much more health affecting than poeple having the odd fag somewhere near them. You can't smoke indoors anymore - and fair enough - but outside I can see no reason for anyone to complain. It will NOT cause any damage to the children.

shootfromthehip · 17/08/2008 21:58

NO, not my children's cups. I used someone elses children's cups x What kind of parent do you think I am?

ilovemydog · 17/08/2008 21:59

Expat, you made this huge generalization inferring that by objecting to smoking in a legal situation was a symptom of 'me me me.' How?

shootfromthehip · 17/08/2008 22:01

OMG- it's getting serious again- I'm off. Thanks one and all for the intellectual stimulation and chuckles. Night

Rhonds · 17/08/2008 22:02

night shoot

expatinscotland · 17/08/2008 22:02

so i addressed you back.

and then moved on instead of stewing about it.

ilovemydog · 17/08/2008 22:03

yeah, I'm off too.

Whatever.

expatinscotland · 17/08/2008 22:04

getting all het up over nada isn't my thing.

ilovemydog · 17/08/2008 22:05

GodzillasBumcheek · 17/08/2008 22:05

There's always the argument that it's setting a bad example
