to be annoyed with my friend lecturing me about pregnancy?

Name changed because some of my friends from my ante-natal group are on here.

I'm so pissed off with my friend - I'm 40+6 and really fed up with being pregnant, it's so hot, I have SPD and can barely walk, plus my legs are really swollen.

Was speaking to my (childless) friend about self-inducing. I explained to her that I'd read that hot curries can work possibly as they irritate the bowel. Anyway, I tried that and it didn't work so instead I started saving the out of date food in my fridge instead of throwing it away. My friend went mental when I told her I had been eating it, told me I was putting my baby at risk. FFS it was just slightly out of date bacon and yoghurt, I thought a tummy ache might help things along.

I'm so fed up of her butting in when she knows nothing. AIBU to be annoyed with her?

Hmm
mumfor1standmaybe2ndtime · 03/08/2008 14:06

Never heard of eating out of date food to speed labour along! I would imagine she is just worried about you, whether she is childless or not - I am sure if she had a child she would probably say the same things.

Yanbu, just hormonal!

tiredemma · 03/08/2008 14:08

Rather than bringing on labour, you are more at risk of food poisoning. Any fool would know this.

You are either incredibly foolish or a troll.

I suspect the latter

MaryAnnSingleton · 03/08/2008 14:33

how odd !

missjennipenni · 03/08/2008 14:34

If i were your friend, id be voicing my concerns too! and im not childless.

Do you really want to go into labour with food poisoning?

cornsilk · 03/08/2008 14:37

If this is for real, you are extremely silly.

belgo · 03/08/2008 14:37

if it's a troll, it's not very funny.

beanieb · 03/08/2008 14:37

food a couple of days out of date shouldn't be that harmful to be honest. I've never heard of a tummy ache bringing on labour though - who told you this might be a way to do it?

wheresthehamster · 03/08/2008 14:38

At least the celery-up-the-butt thread was amusing. This is boring

belgo · 03/08/2008 14:39

what celery-up-the-butt thread??? I missed that one!

mrsleroyjethrogibbs · 03/08/2008 14:39

seriously?
sex is far better at starting labour than food poisoning

Overdueandfedup · 03/08/2008 14:41

Well I'm getting desperate now, can't do sex.

OP posts:
cornsilk · 03/08/2008 14:42

Just wait till the baby is ready to come FGS.

mrsleroyjethrogibbs · 03/08/2008 14:42

semen contains something or other which relaxes your cervix so it does work

belgo · 03/08/2008 14:42

DIY sex also helps due to oxytocin release I think?

Overdueandfedup · 03/08/2008 14:42

I have no DP, therefore I have no semen.

muggglewump · 03/08/2008 14:45

I'd lecture you too.
Do you really want food poisoning in labour?
I suspect you are trolling though

wheresthehamster · 03/08/2008 14:47

Here belgo. It's been sorted now

Overdueandfedup · 03/08/2008 14:47

Is it really likely to give me food poisioning though? Bacon a few days out of date? I thought it would just give me a fizzy tummy and that would start things moving.

wheresthehamster · 03/08/2008 14:48

oops - getting confused

belgo · 03/08/2008 14:49

thanks where'sthehamster

cornsilk · 03/08/2008 14:49

Well I'm not particularly worried about your fizzy tummy. However I would be very worried about what was crossing the placenta to your unborn child - who you don't seem to have mentioned.

quint · 03/08/2008 14:49

If you are serious, you really do not want to be ill when in labour - you will have enough going on. And do you want to spoilt the first moments with your new baby by puking?

I know how hard it is when you're late. DD1 was 9 days late, DD2 was 6 days late.

There really is nothing you can do other than wait. You could always plan a night out - thats guaranteed to make you go into labour so you;ll miss out on your plans!!!
