in being annoyed with a freecycler that can't read her emails properly?

On Wednesday I replied to an offered item and she said I could have it but to give her time to sort things the day after and collect anytime after that.
I replied saying I would collect it Friday afternoon and she replied that was fine see me then.
Last night I checked my emails to find one from her saying that as I hadn't shown up and not contacted her to say so she was giving the item to someone else.
Course I hadn't turned up yesterday as I wasn't expecting to go until this afternoon
AIBU in being annoyed that I have now missed out and am going to have to pay out for the item now?

YANBU to be annoyed, but she is giving something away for free, so I would cut her some serious slack. She might be shifting loads of stuff this week on Freecycle and she has clearly made a mistake. She needs to know that it was her cock up (it might enourage her to be more organised in future). I would drop her a line saying that you were plannning to go on Friday afternoon as per your email of "x time on y date" and you were sorry there had been some confusion. Hopefully you'll get an apology and be able to deal with her in future.

She replied to me using the email that said I was going to come on Friday afternoon!
I sent an email back saying that I would have an upset dd as she was looking forward to receiving the item!
Have heard nothing back from her though

To be fair, it does belong to her and she is free to give it to whoever she wishes. It's not like you turned up to collect it to find she'd already given it away. I appreciate Freecyle does have rules, but unlike eBay or other sites where money is involved, Freecyle rules aren't legally binding, just good manners.

Oh leave her alone! She can give the item to whoever she wants. Maybe she didn't see your email. Maybe it went into junk emails. Maybe she gave it to someone whose email she liked better. It's just one of those things. YOu need to move on and leave it.
