mmmm... I'm wishing that I had picked up the fish fingers in the shopping so I could have them in a sandwich now!!!!

bogie · 25/07/2008 15:25

fish fingers peas and smileys are ok in this house (but then I am a commoner)

VictorianSqualor · 25/07/2008 15:39

Sod the worries about salt, I've been sat here trying to work out why on earth you'd think there were "art colourings" in fishfingers.
Then I clicked we weren't talking Tate Modern

muggglewump · 25/07/2008 15:43

I'm a commoner too Bogie and we love 'em

Oblomov · 25/07/2008 16:08

God I love fish fingers.

noddyholder · 25/07/2008 16:18

fish fingers and peas are heaven though its just the smileys

KT14 · 25/07/2008 16:56

spooky, am just cooking the very same for DS'. The box says it has omega 3 in, can't be that bad!

May2December · 25/07/2008 20:17

I thought it was wrong to refer to food as 'bad' even 'junk' like smiley faces - I happen to like them also by the way. I thought anything in moderation is ok. By the way crisps have far more salt and my kid never ever eat those. So in view of this is it ok for us to eat smiles once a fortnight?

Fish fingers are my favourite. Fish finger sandwiches sustained me throughout university. The best. But not every day.

It never occurred to me that they could be bad for us.

FF, beans and veggies a staple meal in this house. When we have friends for tea, I usually make this as there's at least one bit most of them will eat. The baked bean sauce also persuades the vegetable haters to give them a go. And Sainsbury;s frozen mixed veg has peppers in it as well - yum.

I wouldn't buy smiley faces myself as I'd eat them all and not have any left for the kids. I LOVE that kind of food (when noone's about, clearly). I buy dairylea triangles and occasionally even plastic squares as a guilty pleasure for when DH is out. Obviously it's organic chaff when he's here.

Oblomov - Monster munch rock! Esp the pickled onion ones

I've made my own fish fingers once with cornflakes as the coating. Really really tasty. Can recommend it.

What are smiley faces?

elmoandella · 25/07/2008 20:39

we now cut corners with those fish fingers with the peas and sweet corn in them

anyone checked if the salt level is any different from plain fish fingers. wouldn't think so as both made by birds eye.

but does anyone know for sure?

piratecat · 25/07/2008 20:44

my dd refused the smiley faces, have you tasted them? they r rank.

potatoe waffles taste better.!!

ExterminAitch · 25/07/2008 20:46

i am now Absolutely Craving a potato waffle with a fried egg on top.

QuintessentialShadows · 25/07/2008 21:10

I have watched this thread throughout the day, tongue hanging out of mouth.

I used to treat myself and dh (prekids) to what I tongue-in-cheek called "The Lorry Drivers Dinner". Fried eggs, potatoe waffles and baked beans. Tottally yummy high carb high fat high protein dinner. Just what you need when you spend your working life motionless in front of a computer.

QuintessentialShadows · 25/07/2008 21:11

You understand, no offence to lorry drivers. But this is staple of the roadside diner, where I am from, just add a greasy burger on top of the potatobread, and fried onion.

ExterminAitch · 25/07/2008 21:13

and BEANS! of course! you norwegian genius, you.

blueshoes · 25/07/2008 21:26

Not sure if the smiley faces question has been answered. But since I do not know what it is myself, I googled it and the answer is here - some mashed potato product.
