Interesting fact 5a: If you don't put the caps in it can read the bigger man prison.

ExterminAitch · 25/07/2008 13:20

i presumed so, don't know for sure. did we have a poster called stalagluft5? if not...

Squirdle · 25/07/2008 13:25

We've outed her now...she'll change her name to Wandsworth now!

Squirdle · 25/07/2008 13:27

Or that one on the IOW....

Squirdle · 25/07/2008 13:28

Or Holloway...or um...

falcon · 25/07/2008 13:29

Nothing wrong with that now and again, I'd normally try to add another type of veg but knowing kids it'd probably be treated as a mere garnish.

I'm craving fishfingers with beans now.

Gobbledigook · 25/07/2008 13:34

Nowt wrong with fish fingers and peas.

The smiley faces - now and then I suppose but I don't buy them. It's just as easy to slice up a potato and bung it in the oven to make home made chips (or sometimes I cube them which the kids like).

Gobbledigook · 25/07/2008 13:34

I nearly always mix sweetcorn with peas.

Interesting huh?

frisbyrat · 25/07/2008 13:42

Fascinating.

frisbyrat · 25/07/2008 13:44

Sometimes I do that too, Gobbledigook. And then dh has to pick out all the corn, cos he hates corn.
Simple pleasures...

Gobbledigook · 25/07/2008 13:45

Hehe!

emj23 · 25/07/2008 14:35

For some reason I can't bring myself to buy smiley faces, they just look.. ugh. But FF, peas and potato waffles or mash for dinner every now and then seems fine and dandy.

noddyholder · 25/07/2008 14:40

smileys are crap and teach children that a potato is something that is bright yellow comes in the freezer and grins! What is wrong with real food?

SixSpotBurnet · 25/07/2008 14:40

I would be so happy if DS3 (autistic, very limited diet) would eat fishfingers, peas and smiley faces. Or any of them.

My older DSs used to like smiley faces but have gone off them now and prefer proper potatoes.

nooka · 25/07/2008 15:05

Hate all that fake potato stuff. When our children were small and we had a nanny they went from AK type ice cube thingies (made by me at the weekend) to a diet of fishfingers, nuggets, chips, and other potato crap until I realised that I really really did not want them to eat such a poor diet and that the children would eat plenty of other food and stopped buying them. I bought the nanny lots of cook books instead. She was not happy! I am OK with the occasional take away, McDonalds etc, but think if you give them junk at home you use up your junk "allowance". I do have good fishfingers in the deep freeze as emergency food (although I tend to end up eating them as sandwiches). It's the salt and fat that I would be concerned about, and it's not as if rice, potatoes, bread or pasta take much more effort.

my dds love fishfingers smiley faces and peas in fact since i am going out for a meal tonight that is what dh will be preparing for them and himself for dinner tonight.

they have them about once every two weeks, sometimes more often depending upon how lazy i am being and how fussy dd1 is being.

i think as long as that is not all you are feeding them its great meal. i agree with whoever reccomended angel delight for dessert. thats what we have after our fishfingers and smiley faces, angel delight with fruit chopped into it

Oblomov · 25/07/2008 15:12

Oh god , not another fussy eater thread ,PLEASE.
Quit the nastiness.
I can't stand it.
Op we all agree, everything is fine as a one off.
Smiletys are the crap part though.

I thought this was the same as the thread last nice that was asking about monster munch.

It all gets so serious.

Why can't we all just have a giggle.

Mercy · 25/07/2008 15:12

Fat is fine for young children though.

Mashed potato has got plenty of fat in it too (well, the way I make mine has)

SheSellsSeashellsByTheSeashore · 25/07/2008 15:16

rofl psychomum i still love fishfinger sarnies its what dh makes me when he is concerned that im not eating enough because he knows i can never resist a fishfinger sarnie on white bread smothered with sugary ketchup or mayo!!

actually......

nooka · 25/07/2008 15:16

Butter is I believe good for children (and me too in moderation) it is all the other rubbish I dislike.

motherinferior · 25/07/2008 15:20

Yes, but the problem is obviously that this meal is common. Working-class people eat it. And/or people who just want to get a quick meal on the table.

It's that mix of ease and socio-economics that really rule it out, you see.

DaphneMoon · 25/07/2008 15:23

Yeh I agree with elf mash tates much nicer and healthier than smiley faces. But any junk food IMO is ok once in a while.

chipmonkey · 25/07/2008 15:23

Ooooooh, yes Mercy, mine too! Loadza butter!

DaphneMoon · 25/07/2008 15:24

Oooh a fish finger sandwich, yummy! I'm hungry now.
