well done you

OrmIrian · 21/07/2008 18:11

Ooh I love home-made soup. I also tend to feel a bit smug when it's made from leftovers. The stock from boiling a ham joint is good too. Try eating it with home-made bread for the full smug-halo effect!

GillianLovesMarmite · 21/07/2008 18:14

Hurrah for left overs! we're having chicken pie made with sunday dinner leftovers and some home made pastry!! (A proper free range chicken - not a tesco evil £2 one...)...

it tastes a bit bland tbh, what shall i shove in it? Sorry to say that one of our chickens was an evil tesco £2 jobby and i felt really bad buying it, but we are skint!

And? That's normal.

Every Monday I make risotto from Sunday's chicken..

LongLiveGreenElizabeth · 21/07/2008 18:31

But I am totally spontaneous the rest of the week.

LEM, Loads of red pesto should pep it up a little. Or garlic puree and paprika.

MrsTittleMouse · 21/07/2008 18:32

Do you have any herbs in the garden? A load of parsley would jazz it up a treat.

elmoandella · 21/07/2008 18:38

rosemary is the preferred herb for chicken in my house.

sometimes if they chicken is really shity from tesco. you have no choice but to add a stock cube as they are so horribly bland

jackdaggerette · 21/07/2008 18:41

GreenElizabeth - know exactly what you mean! Realised the other week that I almost always make exactly the same food three days a week - Sunday = roast chicken, Monday = chicken salad with baked potatoes, Tuesday = chicken risotto. I always do weekly menus as it makes shopping so much easier and cheaper but had not realised I had some weird obsessive-compulsive chicken meals ritual going on .

ilovemydog · 21/07/2008 18:42

very envious....

must be great being relatively self sufficient

MadamBovary · 21/07/2008 18:53

You could get an Eggloo and keep your own chickens so the next one would be completely home made. You could have home made omlettes too!

lucyellensmum · 21/07/2008 18:53

ilovemydog, it is VERY relative although maybe next year i'll get it right
