To expect nursery staff to not throw food in front of the kids

Doesn't it set a bad example?
I know most of the staff are only young and need to have a bit of fun too but when the kids are all having tea chucking crisps at each other is surely a bad example?

They are only human having a mad 5 mins.
Everyone should have a mad 5 mins every now and then!

My ds's keyworker told me they had all had a mad 5 mins the other day and were jumping on the beds pillow fighting.
I thought it sounded fabulous. Rather he was having fun than not!

well i don't think yabu, but i can see 2point's reasoning too....

i'm always telling ds1 not to throw things but when it's the end of the day and i start chucking toys in the general direction of the toybox to start tidying up, i have to make myself walk over (harumph) with them so i don't give him mixed messages. So no, yanbu.

I suppose it doesn't matter as ds has been going there for about 2 years and hasn't started lobbing things particularly at meal times so maybe I should just chill out.

The staff seemed very young and immature and they weren't that interested in the kids really.

However this wasn't in the room for his age group and I'm more confident in the staff in the room he is in now so maybe it doesn't really matter anyway.

I'd see jumping on beds and having pillow fights as fine - but throwing food is a definite no-no in my book, even during a silly moment. There will always be one child who thinks it's worth repeating at home, even if that child isn't yours.

On a rather different note, what on earth are nurseries doing, employing people who are young and immature-seeming, not to mention uninterested in children?! Grr.

I know....honestly if it weren't for the fact I have much more faith in the women in his room I'd move him out.

They were far more interested in messing around yesterday when I was there imho.

I find it much more reassuring if there is a mix of older and young staff and possibly irrationally, if there are a few mums amongst the staff.
