To expect 'people' to remember DD's 1st birthday

DD is one today. She is my third DC so don't expect much but is it unreasonable to expect the following to send a card (on time) or even phone?
Mother in law!!!!
Both my brothers (one of whom has a DC and so knows how it feels!)
My father
All godparents

I know she doesn't care. But I do. Feeling sad- when DS1 was one it was like present fest here!!!

Did forget my friends DS's 1st birthday last month though

That is a shame - I would have least expected grandparents and godparents to send a card, especially as it's her first birthday.

I know it's a generalisation but mean are notoriously awful at remembering any birthdays, so not too surprised at your dad and brothers.

I'd forget. I'm rubbish at birthdays. Doesn't mean I don't care. YOu have to remind them, or even better, invite them to a birthday tea. Hope you have a happy day

Difficult as they all live hundreds of miles away!! You'd really forget your only grand daughters birthday

Yes, probably. I keep forgetting the date of my own daughter's birthday! I always forget my anniversary, and I forget my only goddaughter's birthday all the time (feck, think it's soon, better ring my friend!). You can't take it personally or assume it is because they don't love her. Just mention it when you are on the phone before the birthday. If they forget when you've told them a week beforehand, then you'd be more reasonable!

I would be very upset if my mum or MIL forgot one of the children's birthdays.....and absolutely astonished if anyone else in the family remembered them. My dad doesn't remember my birthday, for example, let alone his grandsons.
