to have had a bit of a row with another woman at work who reckons I had a hard labour because "I Wasn't doing it right"

Notalone · 11/07/2008 21:00

She actually believes that the reason she had a 6 hour labour start to finish is because she had her breathing sorted and the reason I had a 27 hour labour is because I didn't. She also said it is not painful and I am lying about how hard I found it. Also I had to have stitches - again because I wasn't doing it right and didn't listen to the midwife whereas she did. I am afraid I kind of flipped a bit at this point and said it might have had something to do with the size of her fanjo and not bloody breathing at all

Ok. Rant over!

lol at the bint with the flappy fanjo
did you really say fanjo?
was there a flicker of recegnition?

mrsleroyjethrogibbs · 11/07/2008 21:40

wow what a cow. Jesus.
I too however have a 'friend' like this who says that women have been doing it for years without any intervention and cant see what the fuss is about. I could have slapped her. Silly cow.

Notalone · 11/07/2008 21:44

No - she hasn't annoyed me. I am more at how ill informed she actually is. Lol - no I didn't say fanjo. I actually said she must have bucket for a fanny. Not my best moment probably and I actually don't believe if you don't have stitches then this is what you are like down below, but I had to say something and that is what came out. Don't think she appreciated it

Notalone · 11/07/2008 21:45

Wow at the silent labour too. Why was that not me?!

PeaMcLean · 11/07/2008 21:49

Notalone, I soooo wish I could do a witty response like that. Very very good

bonnibaby · 11/07/2008 21:52

What a load of rubbish ,the silly woman.
My first labour lasted an hour and hurt REALLY badly for about 20 minutes.
I thought/hoped that the second would be easy to be honest so was as relaxed as anything.
OMG-nightmare,thought i was gonna die by the end of it.

carrielou2007 · 11/07/2008 21:53

I did not find the breathing did anything for me...my midwife had said to me I should bwe fine as when she sees tall slim fit women they ususally labour well - I carried on working out EVERY day (well I love it especially running) and went into labour new years eve. Could manage it (why do people complain I can do it I thought) held off until day after new year when I had to stop talking due to such pain at every contraction.

That was a tue, honestly thought I was going to die was in such pain, why did I not have any gas and air? Dd came out on friday, big baby, forcepts and 3rd degree tear and I will never do that again.

If anyone said anyting like that to me I think I would have flattened them...

morningpaper · 11/07/2008 21:54

lolol @ size of fanjo

did you really say that?! 10 points for good improvisation

minouminou · 11/07/2008 21:54

a friend of mine came over from zambia to have her baby last sept
some silly cow over there had been making her feel all nervous and guilty by regaling her with tales of her 100% pain-free birth in Natal, or somewhere
"ooooohhhhhh, it was SOOOOOOOO worth it", and going on about how women were too ready to have pain relief and interventions
now, good for her for getting through it with nothing, but i said to my chum "it's not a fu*ng spectator sport", people have died a few times doing this, you know"
as it happened, thank god she opted for interventions, as she had a horrific time and could have died
and women didn't do it alone in ages gone by....they would have had someone there...an experienced mother or two, with whatever equipment they had available

morningpaper · 11/07/2008 21:54

leave a picture of the channel tunnel on her desk

bargain bucket....that's what you should call her

OurHamsterisevil · 11/07/2008 21:58

Some people are are so up their own arses its unreal. I had a 4hr labour and a 2hr. But I would never dream of telling people they did it wrong. I just thank my lucky stars that it was relatively easy for me, as I know most people aren't that lucky

HonoriaGlossop · 11/07/2008 22:03

well my midwife said my breathing was EXCELLENT but I still had a 50 hour labour!

Totally agree with RubyR - this woman is so crass that she really needs constant badgering with these comments from now to eternity

combustiblelemon · 11/07/2008 22:05

Not everyone has a wizard's sleeve.

minouminou · 11/07/2008 22:07

some have a clown's pocket
this woman probbaly doesn't have a wizard's sleeve, but like honoria said, she really deserves to have it speculated on
forever

3andnomore · 11/07/2008 22:13

Oh that would annoy me, too.
I have now found a way to politely make people recognize that it is NOT your fault oif you end up with the "wrong" kind of Birth.
Basically, little bit of history here, I had 2 natural Births and ds3 was meant to be a homebirth, got to 10 cm's , my most painful labour ever, and then ended up in Hospital with a spinal, a tried ventouse and then E-C-section...I did nothing different then, but it was just all ratehr unlucky, really, which ended me in that situation at the time...so, when people say, oh I would never have a c-section or whatever, I just say, well, that is what I always thought too, and then after t2 easy births Flynn came along and changed my whole outlook, because, I found out, that sometimes things happen despite whatever planning there is, despite whatever well informed I am and so on....

Notalone · 11/07/2008 22:18

ROFL laughing at some of these other retorts. Will definitely try these Monday!!!

combustiblelemon · 11/07/2008 22:18

I think she probably has such a vast vagina that if she did pelvic floor exercises, when she relaxed, she would create a vacuum effect so powerful as to pose a threat to anything within a 10 metre radius not nailed down.

cheesesarnie · 11/07/2008 22:20

i didnt try hard at all.whoops.

catsmother · 11/07/2008 22:21

What bloody rot !

My 1st labour was 4 hours, drug free and so "easy", I admit I went about saying (ducks at this point) "don't know what all the fuss is about, I've (truthfully) had migraines, backache, IBS worse than that".

Fast forward 13.5 years to my 2nd labour ....... OMFG. Nightmare. 21 hours of excrutiating pain and noises I didn't know I could make. I was petrified and exhausted, had pethidine, then an epidural and was finally going to have a CS when in the nick of time DD finally decided to come out the natural way in the operating theatre !

Every labour is different.

yoursurroundedbyarmedbastards · 11/07/2008 22:22

OMG PMSL at morning paper.

YA so NBU!! What a bitch, ach she probably reads the daily mail.

FairyMum · 11/07/2008 22:23

You seriously cannot be upset about such an ignorant comment.

MrsThierryHenry · 11/07/2008 22:25

Notalone, YABU. You shouldn't have argued with her. You should've slapped her.
