in thinking that not every mother is on mumsnet?

Just something I've noticed recently, on a lot of threads people say something like 'maybe the XXX in question is on mumsnet and will be really hurt by this thread' etc - I'm sure you know what I mean! I'd just like to point out - none of the other mothers I know go on mumsnet - they are too busy living their lives and just don't have enough hours in the day to go online! I and everyone else on here is very lucky to have the time to waste on here. Tbh I think its very unlikely the people we talk about in threads have mumsnet. Anyone with me?

Are you talking about me?

BoysAreLikeDogs · 08/07/2008 17:16

[shrug]

Lauriefairycake · 08/07/2008 17:21

I don't know anyone in real life who has even heard of mumsnet

and there's far too many precious people on here who don't get that it's anonymous and that people get to rant

bubblagirl · 08/07/2008 17:23

i made this comment earlier but alot of mums i know do go on here

FabioTheWhisperingCat · 08/07/2008 17:24

Everyone is on mumsnet.
Some of us effect ignorance when asked.
But we lie.
Every now and then a thread pops up (usually in AIBU) and someone comes on and says OI FUCKER THAT WAS ME.
All Hell breaks loose, which is marvellous fun terrible.

BoysAreLikeDogs · 08/07/2008 17:25

lol Fabio you make me laugh, you are v funny

Twiglett · 08/07/2008 17:26

OK I get the point .. and I agree, most parents (mothers) are not on mumsnet

But why are we wasting time? I don't ever understand that.

Do you mean by virtue of this being an online world that conversations, discussions and concepts are of less value than a conversation in the pub with someone?

Am I not living my life because I enjoy talking to some mumsnetters?

I don't come on as often as I used to, to be fair, but I don't regret a single discussion. I enjoyed the humorous threads, learnt from a number of threads and posters, offered support and picked people up as much as I have been offered support and pick-me-ups.

So take it back!

Not not every mother is, but the ones who have neglected their children enough to be left in peace to MN are.

Twiglett · 08/07/2008 17:27

Today I went to lunch with a new person at school .. she gave my child a fruit shoot .. of course she's not a feckin' mumsnetter

MsDemeanor · 08/07/2008 17:29

I am hiding from hideously noisy playdate in here - with a glass of wine. Oh my poor head.

SheikYerbouti · 08/07/2008 17:39

I am not wasting time

There's only so many times in the day you can load the washing machine and play Spiderman

I come on here because I have done all I need to do by that particular time (except for now, because I have some boring work to do and I'm procrastinating)

MN stops me going mental when my children are being little feckers delightful.

LoveMyGirls · 08/07/2008 17:45

I come on here for 5 mins here and there or when dc's are sleeping, there are days when it keeps me sane!

ReallyTired · 08/07/2008 17:50

I'm its best to assume that every mum you know is on mumsnet. Mumsnet is a public forum and any mum who has access to a pc can read your posts.

SheikYerbouti · 08/07/2008 17:50

I have 2 vg friends who I met through MN

And me and Lazarou are planning a date - but I think she's only asked me out so she can call me Daaaaave and claim me as one of her many wives
