to see red in Tesco's

For some dumb reason me & DP took DD to Tesco's yesterday, I normally do Tesco shop on own, but we had loads of time & wanted to spend whole day together for a change.

To cut to the chase, DD threw a tantrum, not all that bad but was crying. DP was holding her and this guy goes 'will you shut that fucking baby up!'

The guy ran, DP put DD back in trolley and went after him, but couldn't find him. Wish he had as I wanted to give him a piece of friendly advice, to put it nicely!

Can't believe how rude some people are. Incredible.

swearing bloke was wrong.

didn't see if dp was going to punch bloke?

if dp was going to explain and say it wasn't fair to get antsy then yeah why not? Done well having a friendly and I actually mean friendly this time, having a word can change peoples' perspective.

If I'd been you I have tried to chat, and smile and explained. ANd possibly if I'd been arsed I might have followed to next aisle to do so. (no further though cos I'd feel like a twat- suspect because in the end most of us just leave stuff unsaid)

exactly totalmisfit.

unfortunately one will encounter rude, volatile people who are best ignored.to respond by chasing them is imo daft. i can understand one see's red but acting upon it is potentially more provocative and irresposnsible and could inflame or add violence to an already heated provoicative situation

by responding to the inappropraite stimuli you raise the stakes, forcing a response from the perpetrator, changing the dynamic. elevating your own BP and stress

so daft - yes

Wow, I was too nervous to come back to my post yesterday... wish I had now, it has cheered me up no end. Honestly, vivid imaginations, I love it.

Can I just point out that this DP who "ran" after Very Rude Person in Supermarket, who caught Very Rude Person, punched & beat Very Rude Person & left him to die in a pool of blood, as a result of which he got taken away by the police & ended up spending best years of his life in prison is a FICTIONAL CHARACTER in this story.

Andy yes, I will be shopping in Sainsbury's in the future, where the happy family Jamie vibe washes over all shoppers

superflybaby, you do really get some extraordinary performances reactions here on MN don't you? Better than going to the theatre any day .
It's great that your dp was man enough to give chase, let's hope though that sainsbury's provides a better shopping experience as well as better food

Cammelia · 09/07/2008 19:31

One doesn't have to put up with any angry blokes when shopping at Ocado online

CB13 · 09/07/2008 19:42

Your DPs reaction was perfectly understandable. I agree in times we live a bit dangerous however. Horrible man. Shop in Waitrose in future? Better class of nappy buyer?

amidaiwish · 09/07/2008 20:26

when DD1 was a few weeks old we were shopping and she went into total meltdown, screaming her head off, going absolutely ballistic...

people cleared the aisles for me, grabbed what i needed, i was there saying "potatoes, bread, semi skimmed milk" and had about 6 kind shoppers running around filling my trolley whilst i vigorously rocked DD1 to try and shut her up

then i got to the till, everyone moved aside, i went ahead holding screaming DD1 whilst someone unpacked my trolley and someone else packed my bags

how nice was that?
i still smile at the thought and appreciate the kindness i was shown that day.

it was M&S though

megandtyler · 09/07/2008 20:40

i would have been really childish and covered 2yo ears and shouted fuck off wanker at the top of my voice.
childish ignorant but oh so satisfying

superflybaby · 10/07/2008 11:46

kittywise, you are so right, it is better than the theatre and if my DD burps / crys / farts then there is no one to complain about it either

What a crazy bunch. I showed the thread to my DP last night, he always thought MN was all about discussing the best nappy brands and best buys in Mothercare. He laughed his socks off then went to bed rather chuffed at being considered (by some) a 'Real Man'

I went to bed wishing he was Greeny's idea of a Real Man... Drool!

indeed!

Cammelia · 10/07/2008 16:01

superflybaby, you may want to reconsider Greeny's "Fred with Tyres"

Think he bats for the other team
