To expect to be served DECAF when I ask for it?!

Not the best of cafes, but good for the kids, so I checked before I ordered if I could get a decaf latte.

Yes, they say.

Oh, I will have one then please.

Forward an hour later and my stomach started to bloat and niggle.

Now, a couple of hours post coffee I have hideous stomach pains, which is the reason it had to be decaf - I cannot drink caffeine!!

The only thing that takes the edge off is codydramol, and I can't take it because it knocks me out and I am babysitting for a mate tonight, so I will have to spent the whole evening curled up in pain.

Very pissed off. Oh and twitchy what with not having had caffeine in months.

GRRR

awwwwww

Amphibimum · 06/07/2008 19:22

was going to say 'oh stop being so precious' and 'what the hells the point of decaf anyway' but then i saw it was you. and i know you really hurt with caffiene.
so i'll say 'the miserable bastards should be shot!' instead.

does that help at all?

SqueakyPop · 06/07/2008 19:22

Everyone makes mistakes. Also, a lot of coffee shops use the same grinding machines for all their coffee.

If you are so sensitive to caffeine, then perhaps it's not a good idea to order coffee when out?

Flamesparrow · 06/07/2008 19:25

I've never had a problem anywhere else before, hence thinking I was safe to order it.

I'm hurting to much to be nice about people making mistakes.

lol @ your "stop being so precious" though - thought after I posted that the title would sound like that.

hugs from me!!!

just to say, MIL has been told now to stay off caffiene because of her heart issues.....she and I would be as furious if this happened as she would be in hospital by now if someone made this mistake on her!

and for allergic people, they need to take care.....they cannot afford to make mistakes like this, as you and I know regarding me.

for you.

Flamesparrow · 06/07/2008 19:46

Precisely!

I am lucky, it is "just" a stomach ache.

Psychomum5 · 06/07/2008 19:47

Evil people!

Flame - hope you are feeling better soon, would a hot water bottle on your tum help?

noranamechange · 06/07/2008 19:57

caffine could kill my dd so i'm cross on your behalf.

Hulababy · 06/07/2008 19:58

Not being unreasonable. Abd poor you

Caffine gives me palpatations - some times quite bad - so try to avoid as much as I can. So defintiely empathise with you.

Monkeytrousers · 06/07/2008 20:02

Are you sure it wasn't something you ..um..ate?

Flamesparrow · 06/07/2008 20:07

very sure it is nothing I ate.

I have had mild reactions to food in the past, but this is too strong for a food reaction, tis not an upset stomach, and I am bouncing off the walls with caffeine!

(Now at friend's house... sleeping kids, and MN... what more do I need? except maybe a hot water bottle - will go look for a wheatbag)
