Especially when this little girl is in reception and is aware that all the other girls have beautiful long hair?

Yes reallytired but the op was is it just wrong, not should i call ss. We're agreeing that it's wrong but I agree that there's not much we can do about this particular situation.

Teacherssayso you have no idea what kind of abuse, real, physical and emotional, anyone on this board has suffered. Just because some of us think children should actually be treated as if their feelings matter, doesn't mean we don't know anything about child abuse. Hey, even if we experienced physical abuse, some of us can even recognise emotional abuse when we come across it. It is not SS's remit and it probably shouldn't be, but please don't deny it exists and has a real and lasting impact on the children who experience it. (Oh and quite often it goes hand in hand with physical abuse, though not always.)

If a person is slapped really hard across the face, it doesn't make it ok because the person stood on the left was punched and knocked out cold. Both incidents are wrong.

A girl at my DDs school had this done. She's about 8 and has has worn a baseball for weeks. She even refused to get of a bus because she had forgotten to lift her hat, the Head had to go into the school to find her one. The poor bus driver caused traffic chaos!

Shaved her hair off, OMG the world has gone mad! Utter madness. Mental cruelty, social stigma? The school head needs to pull this parent to one side surely?

My dd has had nits since last July, a whole year . I have been treating her exhaustively with everything but because there are no damn nit nurses, she keeps being reinfected.

My mum came to England from Jamaica in the late 50s and had to go into care for a short time while her divorcing parents struggled over custody issues.
In the children's home they shaved her head because they didn't want to deal with her afro hair. She's in her late 50s now and still vividly remembers the humiliation.

teachersaysso-are you suggesting that giving a child a packet of skips with their lunch is child abuse,or that not having a dining table is child abuse?i really dont get your post, unless it was meant to be sarcastic but went over my head.

there are alot of things which are wrong,or even abusive, which can be sorted out with a bit of advice or guidence for the parents.that was the whole idea of sure start i thought,to provide support and education to families and reduce the amount of abuse and neglect which came about due to health/social problems or a lack of education .

My dd has skips in her lunchbox

I am crap

I don't care what people say about my choices. Hey, I cooked Annabel Carmel?

ivykaty44 · 09/07/2008 22:54

It is fine to have skips in your pack up along with other food - But not ok to just give your dc skips in thier pack up and nothing else. I took it that that is what was meant? - and it is mean to send a dc to school with no breakfast and just crisps for lunch. And yes I know it happens, they go to teacher after lunch and say they are hungry, makes you want to weep. Thing is the dc is usually eligable for free school blardy meals but the parent cant be bothered to sort it out
