... or guitar related crap????????????

I know it's his big passion, but really!!???

I tried to clear a space for the buggy today and found 4 guitars....

God knows how many more lurking guitars there are.... There are already 13 legitimate guitars (not including the 4 illegal immigrant guitars uncovered today)

I suppose you will tell me i should do more housework and he wouldn't be able to hide them so easily.....

and I was going to complain about DH's 4 guitars and DS's one (he's 3, FFS. Guess who bought it for him...)

Pixel · 04/07/2008 20:19

I know, from where I'm sitting I can see 4 guitars, a saxophone and a keyboard. I know there is another guitar in the cupboard and dd has hers in her room. Dh wanted to buy ds a drumkit and I just asked him where exactly he thought we were going to put it. So no drumkit, phew!

DustyTV · 04/07/2008 21:20

SNAP....bloody SNAP with the guitar related crap aswell.

YANBU. DH has the smallest bedroom in the house as his music room and I chuck place the things back in there if they have strayed.

Sherida · 04/07/2008 22:41

Ha sounds like my house. We had 3 pcs, 7 guitars, 2 keyboards and 1 saxophone. 3 amplifiers, and many many effects boards. I sympathise.

branflake81 · 04/07/2008 23:10

we have five guitars and one ukuele....i feel your pain.

Botbot · 04/07/2008 23:15

Oooh, I know. They're just impossible to store, aren't they? Even on stands they take up far too much space. DP has three. One lives next to my side of the bed and I kick it every morning when I get out. One is stuck behind the telly, and one is wedged between a bookcase and the wall.

We should all be grateful to have such talented guitar-playing dp/dhs though.

Botbot · 04/07/2008 23:16

Sorry, inadvertent sexism there. I'm sure some of the guitars belong to you, not your dp/dhs...

stripeymama · 04/07/2008 23:27

My stepdad owned nine guitars at one point.

The handmade Spanish one, the 1930s Jazz one, the bass, the classical one...

My mother banned him from visiting music shops. She once caught him on the way out of the door and accused him of having his "going-to-music-shops-jacket" on.

youcannotbeserious · 05/07/2008 09:07

no botbot, they are all his!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh god my ds1 had 4 guitars in his not huge bedroom. Plus a laptop and a 42" telly. Usually can't change bed or hoover cos there is an enormous amp lying in the middle of the floor as well as the obligatory pile of washing!!

His pal tells me he is selling ds1 his fancy electric guitar. Ha that'll be right!!

Well I have just had to scale my collection down to just 1 so am envious of everyone. sorry.
My dh put the wall mounted hooks up to move them out of way as I agree can look quite cluttered with stands all over.

However all had to come down to make way for baby number 2.
Tried to play yesterday but bump too big.

So dh moans that the guitar now stored under the bed was a waste of money as the case just collects dust.

noddyholder · 05/07/2008 10:07

the leads and amps send me NUTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We converted our garage so now all the guitars and amps etc are out of sight HOORAY!!

youcannotbeserious · 05/07/2008 17:19

Oh, don't even get me started on the amps.....

Though, good on Jura for having some stuff of your own - I'd love a piano but we don't have the room

pmsl at "something fashioned from an armadillo" (sobernow)

Reading this thread I'm glad I ended up with a singer -he just has a rucksack with his lyric books/notes.

Buckets · 05/07/2008 17:39

LOL So many Nigel Tuffnells out there . DH has a whole 'playroom' containing his guitars, basses, amps, uke, mandolin (unplayed), hifi, recording equipment and enormous CD & vinyl collection. He is not allowed to moan about being sole earner or the size of the mortgage - a 3rd reception room costs money!

Things are going to have to change some time as we have the pc in the new baby's room at the moment - he is going to have to clear a space and let me (and Mumsnet) in there.
