to sit on MN instead of doing the housework......

cos I have broken far too many household items this week, topping off today with the hoover (by sucking up my viole curtains in the lounge, causing smoke to billow out and me to cough violently).

if I sit here instead, and DH comes home and is cross, but I tell him it is for the greater good (and his pocket which is currently needing to pay for a new kettle and water filter, new pans, new wine glasses, bottles of wine {also dropped that this week}), do you think I can get away with it????

please

you are much safer there... do not move!

poppyhead · 04/07/2008 12:38

I say mumsnet away.
It is Friday, end of the week ,put your feet up.

LoveMyGirls · 04/07/2008 12:39

YANBU

You could try saying "I couldn't be arsed"

Or "I would have but something prevented me from moving"

Or "I thought it would be safer and cheaper if I stayed still"

Or "I killed an insect by accident and were so upset I've had to spend the day in mourning?

WiliamGrey · 04/07/2008 12:39

YY MN much safer - and cheaper

LoveMyGirls · 04/07/2008 12:39

cocolepew · 04/07/2008 12:40

Psychomum5 · 04/07/2008 12:48

not planning on breaking the laptop (touch wood), but should I, the girls have theirs.....

pmsl @ killing an insect!!!

I may say that I tried to superglue something and got stuck to the sofa and laptop....I did try the other week and got stuck to the tube, it is not out of the realms of possible.....

Put can of polish next to P.C and dust it like mad when anyone walks by...thus feeding mumsnet habbit AND looking busy

Psychomum5 · 04/07/2008 12:58

kimi, I would, only I lack polish as I forgot I used the last tin up and have not yet replaced.....

madamez · 04/07/2008 13:00

Just tell him that housework is a waste of life and the more housework a woman does, the less interested in sex she is.
NB, if you don;t fancy having sex with him tonight, that may not be the best line to use

Good idea madamez - just say i thought about doing the house work but decided to use the energy on you instead then give him the night of his life and he'll NEVER moan about housework ever again.

weblette · 04/07/2008 13:01

Yanbu, I'm doing exactly the same

LoveMyGirls · 04/07/2008 13:02

Oh yeh

LoveMyGirls · 04/07/2008 13:02

What about saying you feel drained because of AF

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 04/07/2008 13:03

I have been known to clean scum out of the keyboard with cotton buds so I feel like I'm doing something useful when actually I'm just pissing around on here.

op tip - don't get carried away and discover the keys pop off, so take them all off to clean them and then have to wait for DH to bring the laptop home so you know where to put them all back. It was like some fascinating jigsaw, I had quite a lot of fun trying to remember where they go and using trial and error.

God I sound like my life is boring.

Psychomum5 · 04/07/2008 13:07

PMSL at taking the letters off!!!!

I would do that, I know I would

You know, there generally is something in this business of less-houswork-more-sex. Only I think the actual studies done showed more that: if men contribute a fair share towards household duties then women feel more inclined for sex. But it's still worth a try particularly given that, despite all the crap about housework being what women are for, most men would atually rather have a messy house and a good shag.
