I'm not pissed of with my dh at all, he can't get out of it and he has tried and is gutted about it. I'm still so annoyed at his boss though - he puts his work over his kids and wife, it doesnt mean anyone else should! Grrr!!

um, yes. Sometimes work has to come first, and it's not like your ds is going to remember it.
FWIW, my dh was out of the country for ds's 1st and dd's 3rd b'day, and he spent our tenth wedding anniversary in antigua - without me, needless to say.
Nothing he could do about it, it's only one day, it's how he spends the majority of his time which is more important, not particular dates.

DS and I had a lovely day on his first birthday - we went to the zoo and laughed at the monkeys. It was lovely, just me and him. We had a party with DP at the weekend.

Ohhh, I'd be disapointed too.

Could you reschedule the day (your ds won't know which day his birthday is )

i understand work has to come first or we couldnt afford to live etc but i'm still disappointed.

Nothing I can do about it... but will try & swing an hour or so off.

Most people work on children's birthdays. Most chlidren go to school on their birthdays. Most parents of under 5s work and most don't take time off to be with the chdilren. It's no big deal really is it? The party can be at the weekend when people aren't working.
