...to think it isn't a human rights issue if some children in a class don't get invited to a birthday party?

Hijacking Radio 2 discussion here - sorry if there's already a thread on this. But surely children need to learn that not everybody is going to be their friend/invite them to their party???

I personally would love to invite all children so that nobody gets left out but it's not possible as I have twins in different classes so have to make a choice out of 60 children. It was difficult this year so I really based my decision on who I heard the twins talk about frequently, what parties they had been to and who was on their class table.

My children's school have asked specifically that invitations are given to teachers so they can be subtly put into bookbags otherwise can parents distribute them outside of the school.

However there are a particular clique of mums who only invite the children in their little group but insist on getting their children to hand invites out before school so the other children get jealous. I find it odd as these mums all see eachother outside of school so there is no need for this public display!

Ah the ' ASD might be catching' parents GS.

Leaving out a whole bunch fine. Leaving out one or two in the class. Not fine.

I know how upsetting it is to be the mum of a child who doesn't get invited to parties. Our youngest dd has ASD (Autisitc Spectrum Disorder) and has difficulty in understanding things, but she's not so bad that she can't play musical chairs etc, I think the last party she got invited to was 2 years ago when she was 7(sad)
