I feel more humiliated really. We were on Skype on the webcam as they don't live in the same country. My DH and DD were facing the camera talking to PIL. FIL asked about his grandchild to be, so I lifted my top and showed my belly on the screen. FIL said "Put that away, it's disgusting".
I know there's a generation thing, and my DH tells me that it really doesn't matter. But it keeps coming back in my head. Maybe it's just the hormones...

Didn't you ever notice it's the same shape as the earth????
You are all so disconnected

brightongirldownunder · 03/07/2008 14:28

Nothing wrong with a tipple at work.

I would have been upset at that response too, but there'd only be a snowflake's chance in hell of me ever showing my FIL my pregnant belly.

I loved having a pregnany belly, but nobody other than myself and DH got to see or touch it - why would they want to?

brightongirldownunder · 03/07/2008 14:30

Most of my teachers were pissed.
Thats why I spend most of my lessons drawing pictures of willies.

mrsruffallo · 03/07/2008 14:34

Lol, brighton
Mine would reek after lunch

Walnutshell · 03/07/2008 15:22

my dh would not have let a comment like that from my fil slip away unnoticed.
agree ruff's comments.

minster · 03/07/2008 15:28

Would you flash your non pregnant belly at him?

minster · 03/07/2008 15:29

p.s. I agree he was very rude, but it probably was shock (add me to the ewwww group of belly coverers).

brightongirldownunder · 03/07/2008 15:37

But "disgusting". Surely even someone in shock wouldn't say that..
Why would you flash a non pregnant belly? I remember when I was pregnant and still in the UK and DH was working in sydney, I'd i-chat him and stand infront of the camera to show him how much bigger I'd got. He was fascinated.
I'm not saying I looked beautiful, but ,really, what OP's fil said was totally out of order.

edamdepompadour · 03/07/2008 15:44

But that was your dh, not your FIL, and presumably dh wanted to see your tummy.

We don't routinely display our naked bellies, except for sunbathing, so it is an odd thing to do that will provoke a strong reaction in most people. And FIL's reaction was probably to do with shock.

Walnutshell · 03/07/2008 15:44

my fil has seen me in a bikini. I don't know how he carries on living

brightongirldownunder · 03/07/2008 15:50

Blimey - bikini? I wouldn't dare at the moment.
I'm not sure if I'd show fil my preg tum as he's an old fart but I think the whole of this thread is based on his stupid reaction

Walnutshell · 03/07/2008 15:52

you wouldn't dare what? wear a bikini generally or just in front of your fil? what if you went on holiday together?!

brightongirldownunder · 03/07/2008 15:57

Why would I go in hols with dreaded fil? Now that IS disgusting....
He's the biggest shit stirrer around!
I wouldn't dare wear a bikini until I've dissolved these baby handles.

brightongirldownunder · 03/07/2008 15:58

Walnut love your photo btw

Walnutshell · 03/07/2008 16:04

thanks, yes, I am very beautiful, hence the bikini wearing!

ok, take your point, you're not too keen on your fil!

brightongirldownunder · 03/07/2008 16:05

Oh I could start a thread on him if I could be bothered, but I can't!

HollyandNoah · 03/07/2008 16:33

I hated my pil when i was pregnant! my mil told me i was too fat when i was 5 month, and that was just the first! Especially when people were around, like aunts and uncles she would puff her cheeks out and say 'you're looking a bit makes puffy cheek face' aww it realllllly annoyed me! So no, i totally feel for youx

AnyFuleKno · 03/07/2008 21:55
