i won't shoot you but I would like to shoot all these crappy mag and paper articles that treat a woman's weight loss or gain as being anyone's business.

Blondilocks · 02/07/2008 19:42

Size 12 is apparently less than average now whereas in the past wasn't it the average size?

But no, a 12 isn't big. I thought Natalie Cassidy has lost weight since I last saw her in a picture?

Clothes sizes are pretty pointless though ... at least men clothes are actual measures!

MyDingaling · 02/07/2008 19:42

There is no way a size 12 is big. The size 0 culture makes me sick

2point4kids · 02/07/2008 19:43

I'm a size 12 and I'm thin and gorgeous

belgo · 02/07/2008 19:43

YEs that's true TotalChoas but she did make a DVD about how she lost weight so she has gained finacialy by the publicity, so I suppose these rags see her as fair game.

But of course a size 12 isn't big.

micci25 · 02/07/2008 19:44

god if a size 12 is big i must as big as a house!!! id kill to be a size 12 right now!!

2shoes · 02/07/2008 19:45

well it said that she had gone from a size 16 to a 8(but could get in to size 0 jeans)
she di look a little bit toooo thin

OP posts:
posieflump · 02/07/2008 19:45

it is because about 3 months ago she was a size 8

I agree a size 12 isn't massive at all

what I take issue with is Natalie Cassidy obviously achieved her weightloss through an unsustainable diet and exercise programme, made masses of money from her quickest selling fitness dvd of all time and gave people hope that they could do the same.
Well at least her bank balance will be nice and healthy and she has no one but herslef to blame for always being in those shite magazines

2shoes · 02/07/2008 19:45

what size is a 0

OP posts:
nickytwotimes · 02/07/2008 19:46

Size 12 is big in 'sleb' land. Ridiculous, innit?

Lilymaid · 02/07/2008 19:46

The average size in the UK is now 16 (not sure whether this is the most common size) - but size 12 is a normal to slim size for a healthy adult woman.

donnie · 02/07/2008 19:48

it depends on how tall you are. I am 5 foot 2 and look too fat when i am a 12.

TheProvincialLady · 02/07/2008 19:48

Size 12 isn't big but if you have put on enough weight to go from a size 8 to a size 12 in a few weeks then in my opinion you have ballooned. It's not healthy to do that (in either direction).

belgo · 02/07/2008 19:49

that's the problem with these unsustainable diets ProvincialLady - they encourage the body to put on weight very quickly once the diet is stopped, and that's not healthy.

nickytwotimes · 02/07/2008 19:49

size 0 U.S is a size 4 U.K.

In the movie "PRettty Woman" Julia Robert's character is refered to by a shop assistant as a size 6 (i.e uk 10 - skinny for a tall woman) but that wouldn't happen now. That would be too big, ffs!

cory · 02/07/2008 19:49

Depending of course of the general size and shape of the woman. I am not overweight but I am still a size 14 below and a size 16 for tops (all that bloody bf'ing).

spaghettiarms · 02/07/2008 19:53

there was an article in one of the magazines a few weeks ago saying how hard she was finding keeping up with her new image..
I guess if you have been used to being known for your acting and not your waistline then having to keep up with everyone else is a bit of a horrid shock.

Yes it's crazy that people put themselves through it. Especially these famous types who parade their weight loss through stupid dieting in the cheap mags, only to humiliate themselves as the weight piles back on again. Why would anyone want to be a sleb?

2shoes · 02/07/2008 22:08

the money

geordieminx · 02/07/2008 22:11

Wasnt she all smug a few motnhs back that she had got to a size 0...??

There was a pic on the front of some rag shleb mag -she looked like a lolly pop... a seagull shaped lolly pop.
