To think you don’t file your nails on a busy train?!

On a (fairly busy) train. Woman has been filing her nails for the past ten minutes. Brushing of the debris on to the floor.

YABU = acceptable
YANBU = not acceptable 🤢

I wouldn't personally but it isn't something that would particularly annoy me.

OldrNWisr · Today 10:00

I don’t think this would bother me and I’m usually incensed by bad behaviour on trains! The amount of dust it creates will be far less than walked in on people’s shoes and humans are generally dirty things, shedding hair and skin cells everywhere they go. If she takes off her shoes and starts on her toes though, I might say something 😂

eww no

JazzHandsYeah · Today 10:05

No it’s grim. But not as bad as the old lady I saw clipping her toenails on the tube in the summer 🤮

AbsoluteHoot · Today 10:08

It’s indicative of the modern general lack of decorum and manners. I was in the steam room at the gym this week and a woman was shaving her legs. Yes, really.

Berlinlover · Today 10:12

Absolutely disgusting but most people don’t seem to have manners anymore.

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · Today 10:16

It’s not great, I agree. I wouldn’t do it.

But I guess the tiny bits of filing will be far from the worst thing wafting about on the train (somehow it feels much less bad than clipping).

Also far from the worst thing you’ll
see on public transport these days - loud aggressive men and teens, business or private conversations loudly on phones, drunk people, music out loud, people taking up two seats either with bags, other possessions or bits of themselves, people sitting with legs or other bits of themselves win the aisle making it hard to get past despite the window seat beside them being free…

DuckFilledPlatitude · Today 10:18

I'm not sure why you would give yourself a full manicure on the train but if a nail breaks it's reasonable to deal with that nail. A broken nail catching on things is awful.

Makeyourownmister · Today 10:21

YANBU op!

No personal grooming in a public space thank you. I think it’s really poor manners.

However, if I was the owner of a private train company, who ran a major line in and out of a large-ish city, I think you could make a killing setting up a beauty salon in one carriage so busy commuters could kill two birds with one stone. When else does a mother, who works ft, get one child-free hour to herself for grooming purposes? If you could have a manicure, your eyebrows plucked and your eyelashes tinted en route, that would be a win for me!

Eggplant19 · Today 10:23

I probably wouldn’t think twice about a woman doing this because I’ve seen much, much stranger things on a train!

notanothernamesurely · Today 10:26

Wouldn’t bother me half as much as the people listening to shit on their phones loudly

Well Andy pandy's gunna stop all that shit so we can all have a peaceful journey on public transport 😉

NigellaAwesome · Today 11:19

I don’t think it would bother me that much, other than being a bit distracting. Not as bad as the woman who sat beside me on a plane and started painting her nails. I have asthma.

OffTheMap · Today 11:43

The noise of nail filing gives me the absolute shivers, aaaargh.

Crass and classless behaviour to undertake that kind of personal grooming on a train.

But we are where we are. People are crass and lacking in social grace, consideration, self respect and manners

muddyford · Today 11:45

I saw a woman doing this on a commuter route. She was entirely unaware that the filings were dropping onto the flaps of her black jacket and onto her black skirt.

SpottyAlpaca · Today 11:49

On a global scale of importance, this triviality really isn’t something I could get stressed about.
