12 months ago applied for a position in a family run business and was one of 2 shortlisted, other person got the job and I wish them well. Of note, I requested 4k over the offered price and still got 2nd interview but was advised the other person had a little more experience in a particular field. I understood and fair enough. Roll on a month later I take a job elsewhere for amount I had previously requested and am still there with an additional 2k after my 6 month review.
I see the original job has been relisted with a salary that is 2k more than previous. After mulling it over, I called one of the partners today and" Hi Rebecca, its Joanne Smith here, not sure if you remember me, I interviewed last for position in office?" Her response was "yes, i remember " I then went on to mention how I had seen the vacancy back up, she explained that things hadn't worked out with the person they took on. I then explained that I had an interest in the vacancy however, my own circumstances had changed and even though I had been shortlisted last time at x amount, I would now be looking for higher amount.
She explained that she had interviews lined up and it really wouldn't be fair to the candidates to cancel. Of course, I said I understand.
She then said she would complete the interviews and call me the day after they are completed. She thanked me for getting in touch and said, I'm saving your number right now, she also said that the figure was much higher than they wanted to pay but knows that they are paying for my experience.
What do you think my chances are of landing the role second time round?
Unreasonable - Not a chance!
Reasonable - Possibly, looking good!
