To be tired of not feeling safe

Felt like this since covid really, looking back is like a dream life where I didn't feel scared that often. Anxiety is pretty high these days, especially with talk of having supplies in, which I haven't done yet.
Am I the only one who hasn't?

I so miss just feeling carefree for once

I think life is difficult for most of us. The new advice to stock up is alarming but other countries see this as a given - it’s just our lot were slow to tell us.

What has helped me is to recognise all the good things we experience day to day - little things like meeting a friend, a lovely walk, a rainbow etc

Focus on the good bits that happen between the ‘shit-times’ and that really helps lessen the anxiety.

I suppose it's maybe because I haven't stocked up yet and can't for a couple of weeks, it's making me panic that something (whatever that is) will happen before then
Have you stocked up?

I am so reliant on tech now it’s annoying - I am never stocked up and rely on deliveroo when I run out of things as I’m single parent. I need to stock up more just for my day to day living, let alone the apocalypse!

Yes same, have you done it?

I haven't stockpiled and I am not sure am going to. I have enough food and toilet paper to last me three days. Most people do.
Don't know what's the wind up radio is for. Avoiding news is exactly what's keeping me anxiety-free.

I haven't stocked up but tend to have about 3 days or more worth of food anyway. Pretty sure that advice has been floating around for years. When I feel like everything in the world is moving in a terrifying direction I cut back on the social media and think about my street, my town, my kids and remind myself how much is the same as it was 20-30yrs ago my kids go to school, they see their friends, they play football in the park, I go to work, meet friends for drinks, chat to the neighbours, make dinner, walk the dog, real life hasn't actually changed that much from when I was a child. It helps balance the constant fear coming from phone/TV.

I've been making an effort to unplug a lot more lately and it really helps. I walk the dogs with no headphones, just listen to the birds and say good morning to fellow walkers. I go for long runs with my headphones in somewhere quiet where I can sing along to music as I run and not be heard. I make time to be more creative, I paint and do little decorating jobs around the around the house making my surroundings prettier. I've started buying physical books again and reading more.

I'm not saying completely ignore what's going on in the world Im still clued in but I read it then immerse myself in something else.
