Are people who copy influencers and social media just sad and pathetic

Bbbuuu · Today 18:49

For things like putting up their Xmas tree and decorations up now.

People copying other people especially influencers are just very sad, pathetic. Probably insecure.

They are not going to enjoy life and get the most out of it by copying others.

You seem angry

Namenamchange · Today 18:54

I don’t know, but surely it’s just work. Influencers are paid and if they can make a living why not, and if people want to copy it’s up to them.
There’s plenty in my job I don’t like and just have to do, whats the difference? People don’t have to engage or copy.

if putting your tree up makes you happy do it

Lookingforwardtospringnextyear · Today 18:54

Yet another thread about " influencers".
Why are you even bothered about these people ?They are nonentities for heaven's sake. Why give them head space?

Smallestshadow · Today 18:55

Surely putting up Xmas decs early is a fairly benign activity and doesn’t really affect anyone else or matter? It’s a very scathing post.

MajorSamanthaCarter · Today 18:56

Don't be a dick.

Lmnop22 · Today 18:56

Why is it sad and pathetic? Surely it’s just the modern day equivalent of seeing a nice tree decorated in a magazine and copying it or at your friend’s house and copying it?

If I saw a nicely decorated tree wherever, I might well try and make my tree look the same 🤷🏼‍♀️

Doggymummar · Today 18:56

No, I don't think so.

MintTwirl · Today 18:57

Why do you care? Is it any different to copying celebrities or house magazines or recipe ideas in magazines?

RobertaFirmino · Today 18:57

Go on then, who is she to you?

You've clearly got the needle with someone who has recreated something she saw on Instagram. Who is she and what has she really done?

Headflip · Today 18:59

It's not something I consciously do, but we've all been influenced by "trendsetters" since the beginning of time. See any hime decoration or style thread and it's all about what's fashionable. They're all following someone.

Headflip · Today 19:01

I have a view if they're putting their tree up on 1Nov 🤣

BlossomLeaves · Today 19:01

Meh, if they’re doing something that makes them happy, and not harming anyone what’s the problem? We’d all be a lot happier if we focussed on ourselves instead of judging those around us. If you don’t like seeing it get off social media.

MrsTerryPratchett · Today 19:02

I assume it's a wind up.

But people who copy influencers are no more silly than people who copy Queen Victoria or wherever our current traditions come from. It's all just culture whereever it originated.

NobodyEvenCares · Today 19:02

Jesus this is the third thread in 24 hours banging on about influencers. Just don’t follow any!

Retne · Today 19:04

I wouldn't recognise an influencer if they chased me down the road and bit me on the arse.

So YABU, just ignore them instead of starting silly threads.

tomorrowfollowstoday · Today 19:04

How does something as harmless as putting up a tree early provoke so much bitterness?

Arbourimage · Today 19:07

I think people posting on the internet about how sad and pathetic others are, encouraging a pile on will no doubt be sad and pathetic themselves.

FacetiousFace · Today 19:09

People have been taking inspiration from others since the dawn of time. It's human nature. Nobody is original.

Hatty65 · Today 19:11

It's not my cup of tea. I don't follow any 'influencers' but I don't really have an opinion on people who do.

Each to their own. I certainly don't care if other people copy influencers. It does not affect me in the slightest.

It's a weird thing to give a shit about, imo.

Error404FucksNotFound · Today 19:15

Times change.
A few years back it would have been magazines like ideal home, good housekeeping, homes and gardens and whatever the others were called. Now its the Internet.

Same with fashion.

Well i don't agree with this.

There a lot of peopke, including myself, who really dont take any notice of what other people are doing. We do things because we want to do them not because other people tell us what they think we should be doing. Some of us actually have minds of our own.

OK, if you say so, I'd say the same, but I recognise that what I choose "with my own mind" is influenced by ideas gained from seeing things around me.

Unless you live in a vacuum you will be consciously and unconsciously ‘influenced’ by all sorts of things - nature, advertising on the tube, a scarf worn by a stranger in the street. To claim other people and your surroundings have no influence on you is wild!

I think I am. Yes.😭
