Sam Fender for 11 year old

We are considering taking my 11 year old daughter to see Sam Fender. She would have a seated ticket. If you've been before would you think it's appropriate to do this? The odd f word would be OK but I suspect it will be quite an 'adult' atmosphere and a late finish (starts 5pm, internet suggests it will finish 10-11pm) so she will undoubtedly be tired (possibly asleep!) and will then have a walk to the car/train and a long journey home. You are being unreasonable = I wouldn't take her. You are not being unreasonable = I wouldn't take her

If she likes his music, it's fine. It's not as if you're doing this every day!

Totally fine

I doubt it starts at 5pm, that's most likely when the doors open for the general admission people to get in and claim their space on the floor. Unless it's someone like Bruce Springsteen or Taylor Swift a concert is highly unlikely to have the main act on for more than 1 hour 45 mins. Closer to time, google the timings for recent concerts and figure out who the support act is and if you want to be there for that. There is often a gap of 30 mins or so between support and main act which can be a bit boring for kids, and the loos and food and drink outlets get rammed. Maybe also consider ear defenders since you dont know how they will react to the loud music.

Both of your options say ‘I wouldn’t take her’ - but I would!

Oh no newbie error and I can’t seem to change it! Was in a rush as already in waiting room! Let’s say the first one is you are not being unreasonable - take her. Second is you are being unreasonable- don’t take her

If she actually likes Sam fender and wants to go then absolutely yes. I've seen him live and it was a mixed crowd and totally appropriate for a child of 11. There was nothing particularly "adult" about it. Take her pjs and let her get changed before you set off in the car on the way home so she can sleep

Plan to take her BUT be prepared to can it if needed and if that’s not an option for you then I’d suggest you leave it for a while, maybe take her to a tribute act as a tester.
i took my daughter to a gig when she was about that age and her ears couldn’t handle the noise so we bailed at the supporting set, I’d wanted to see that band for ages so was gutted but knew I couldn’t / shouldn’t force her to stay. Some kids can find a gig really overwhelming with all those people, saying that, seated in a stadium will likely be just fine

fruitbrewhaha · Today 10:06

I’ve been taking my kids to gigs from much younger. Took my then 12 yo to see Lola Young. That was a lot of swearing. It doesn’t appear to have ruined her.

OneNewLeader · Today 10:14

Yes, she’ll love it.
Check timings, the door opening will be for standing people to get their places.

Check running order and work out if you want to see the support. They’re usually approximate but at stadium gigs it’s usually a well oiled machine. A lot of online chatter will also indicate the playlist.

One late night will be fine.

Presumably this is her first gig, she’ll remember it for years.

Mine were trained at festivals and one absolutely hated the noise, still does.

elliesmummy19 · Today 10:26

100%! I’ve just got myself a ticket and would absolutely have taken my daughter who will be 8 then. I totally would!

TheLastSilverSaint · Today 10:27

Totally fine and normal to take a child that age to a seated gig. Take earplugs for her if you're worried about it being loud, but it's Sam Fender, not a death metal band; she's going to be fine. She can have one late night - she's not a toddler.

Check the stage times because the gig won't be starting at 5pm. That will be time the doors open, so people who are standing can get a place at the front if they want to get there early. You've got seated tickets so that's not an issue for you. If it finishes at 10pm it's unlikely he'll be on stage before 8pm and it might be that there's a support band at 8pm and he comes on at 9pm, so just make sure you're aware of all that before you actually go.

She’s 11, I feel like you are worrying the same as I would for a 4 year old. Is she not in secondary school? Kids will hear bad language a lot by that age in school. I wouldn’t go to the effort of changing into pjs for the drive home either.
