AIBU to forget suddenly sketchy friend

Im trying to work out what to do for the best, as I know ive not done anything wrong (that im aware of!) So basically a very close friend of mine has been acting very very strange. She used to be on the phone most days, our boys would have play dates together and we would meet for coffee and a catch up. This has all changed since one of her other friends has found a new partner. My friend has become very “dry”, reluctant to talk, when I reach out to see how things are I literally get nothing but the bare minimum back. Ive asked a few times if her son would like to cone over to play as they have always done and its been, “do you mind if he doesnt” “ill get back to you” ive tried to arrange a shopping trip with her some other girls and the friend with the new partner but trying to get a straight answer is literally impossible. A few other friends have noticed and I have tried to ask if everything is ok and she just shortly replies “oh were good” (shes normally straight out to say if there is anything wrong or going through anything) this new partner her friend has is known to be a bit of a control freak and part of me feels like weve been ditched for her other friend and this new exciting partner which hurts tbh. I dont want to push it much more, im just wondering is it best leave her be now and see what time will tell?

Can you talk to the other friends about it and see what responses they're getting from her?

Why would her friend getting a new partner affect your friendship? It doesn’t make much sense.

It doesnt, but this is when the change occured, its also known that this new partner likes to control the narrative alot but ai hope thats now whats happening

You think you've been ditched because her friends new partner who is known as a control freak is more exciting?
That doesn't make sense to me. If he is a control freak surely it's more likely that she is worried for her friend than it is she is ditching you because he is exciting?

Shes not aware that he likes to control friendship groups and narratives etc, she currently thinks that he is the best thing since sliced bread i think atm and has no concerns for her other friend. They are very much in the honeymoon phase. Am i best to try to warn her or will this backfire on me is my worry or am i best just to let time tell

Where’s your proof that he likes to control the narrative?

Small community lots of stories wife did a runner and now has all her old friends back our friendship group now drastically changing making us all go ah so the stories were true. I mean i know its not proof but when you here the stories then see it happening infront of your eyes it gets you thinking.

I have read all your replies but I still don't understand why someone else's controlling boyfriend would affect your friend and her relationships? I'd be more inclined to think the timing was a coincidence and something was actually going on with her.

Sounds like you have plenty of friends. Let this one go. Or as hurtful as it might be, accept that she has let you go. If the stories about the guy are true, he will show his true colours soon enough

Step away completely OP.
Never chase friendships.
