To think this isn’t how you wash hair?

DS 10 needed to wash his hair. He only had a shower this morning so didn’t want a full body wash. It has been a battle to get him to wash recently so we compromised with just a hair wash.

I walked in on DH washing DS hair in the bathroom sink. We have a bathtub with a removable shower attachment in the same room.

AIBU to think washing hair over the bathtub would be the obvious choice? DH doesn’t seem to think so.

I don’t think OP says they have to do it her way? She just seems to be asking a question to me. I’m a bit confused by all the reactionary replies, to be honest. But then I guess Mumsnet’s gonna Mumsnet.

hahahahahah. The response given by people who want to shit on women for being a hive mind.

Not been on MN for long, I see.

Sink seems fine to me 🤷‍♀️

It’s extraordinary what some people start forum threads about

When I go to the hairdresser my hair gets washed in a sink. What’s the problem?

HappyViewer · Yesterday 18:44

I think if hair, water and shampoo are all involved then it’s a hair wash.

SylvanMoon · Yesterday 18:44

When I was little, my DM would wash our hair over the kitchen sink! Be thankful that your DH was doing this task for you and that your DS wasn't complaining.

PhilosophicalCheeseSandwich · Yesterday 18:46

It doesn't matter when you're not involved.

LBFseBrom · Yesterday 18:46

Let him wash his hair as he chooses, he's ten, not six.

Good idea Dad - much better for spines!

Bath would kill my back. Leave your husband alone! He's parenting a child through a tricky stage with love.

The fact she even had a conversation with him about it. The starting of a thread here looking for validation. Clearly she thinks her way is better.

Why did you 'compromise' with just a hair wash though? If he showered from the neck down this morning, why was the possibility of more than a hair wash even on the table?

RelievedNoYouTubeMum · Yesterday 18:50

I wash my roots over the sink if I can’t be bothered with a full hair wash. Honestly sounds more efficient.

Is there a full moon tonight ? This isn't even the most batshit thread I've read in the last 5 minutes . . .

The Full Moon (or Hunters' moon as it is called this month) was on the evening of 25th October...👀

I think ‘hive mind’ is a bit strong, but perhaps the fact that everyone is piling on in the husband’s ‘defence’ (not that he’s done anything that needs defending) speaks louder than words.

I’m just a bit confused as to why the OP would start this thread in the hope of orchestrating a slagging of her husband. I may not have been on MN as long as some but I’ve seen enough to know it’s not exactly a hotbed of feminism; a significant proportion of posters seem to think a bloke who can wipe his own arse should get the Nobel Prize.

If a chorus of disapprobation levelled at her husband was her intention it’s not bloody worked, has it?! 😂

He was doing it for her?????

what????

EmailsaysOOO · Yesterday 19:02

As long as the hair got wet, had shampoo applied and then rinsed off, that's all that matters.

Because it's easier. He could've just got in the shower by himself and washed his own hair. It's what he would've been doing here. I don't care that he showered this morning morning, if his hair needs washing, he needs to get in the shower again and wash his hair. His body is not gonna dissolved from being washed twice in one day

Someone said the quiet bit out loud 😂

Emeraldforest · Yesterday 19:07

I wouldn't do it like that as my long hair sheds quite a lot and you don't want that,I think...but he's done it that's the main thing!

Yes was also going to respectfully ask if perhaps you have a bit of an issue with control? This is not really an issue and and parenting and family life can potentially cause so many more actual questions and dilemmas

Dollymylove · Yesterday 19:20

Eh? I always wash my hair over the sink. I dont like water running down my face
Works for me and not against the law as far as I know 😆

pinkypoo8 · Yesterday 19:21

Jeez is there any wonder so many men have affairs get a grip

Bitzee · Yesterday 19:27

Bizarre level of micromanagement for a 10YO. If he failed to realise it needed doing and skipped it in the shower this morning then I’d have just told him to get back in the shower tonight and do it himself. And presuming he has a typical boys short hairstyle get him some shower gel / shampoo combo and get him to get into the habit of doing it every shower from now on. But if you somehow bizarrely got to the point where he was just going to wash only the hair then meh basin or shower, both are fine and will do the job. I’d only object if he was splashing shampoo over the toothbrushes or something like that, not purely because he wasn’t doing it your way.

OneHazelBird · Yesterday 19:27

I can understand why DH wouldn’t want to bend over a bathtub.

It’s easier for DH to do it over the sink.

If DS was doing it on his own then it would probably be better for him to do it over the bath.

Why did he not wash it in the morning?
Then he wouldn’t have to wash twice.
Is it the going over his face he doesn’t like?
