DS is away from home at uni and I give him £550 per month which covers his rent. I had hoped to split costs 50:50 with exDH but apparently he “couldn’t afford it” (he is only a medical consultant after all but that’s a whole other thread 🙄)
DS takes the full amount of student loan to cover the shortfall. I don’t know how much exDH gives him but I’m pretty sure DS doesn’t need the full amount as he seems to have more disposable income than me.
DD is applying for uni next year and is probably going to stay at home. I don’t plan to charge her any digs and I will also be providing food for her (she has low BMI and needs all the encouragement she can get)
I’m not sure if the support I’m giving is unfair to either of them. On the one hand I’m not giving DD any money and she will cost me less, on the other hand DS is only getting accommodation covered but DD is getting accommodation utilities and food.
YANBU - seems like a fair split
YABU - the split is unfair
