Very bigoted and vocal....talks (right wing anti immigration, anti gay etc ) all day?
Everyone is entitled to their opinion but not appropriate in the workplace.
I try not to talk politics at work at all.
Has been told by boss. Others agree with her so I'm scared to speak up.
Boss has had a word....still going on.
i feel like i need a good acrub after work.
Wwyd?

Do you have an HR department? Speak to them about it.

emuloc · 27/10/2026 19:03

Limit your interaction with them, as much as possible.

Buzzer3555 · 27/10/2026 19:07

I second previous posters. Report to hr and make a note of any comments with times and dates.

Y isn't the boss making him stop?

I work in a job where I can put on headphones & not hear my colleagues chat, luckily.

Yes. However I'd take steps to escalate it as your manager has failed to address it.

malificent7 · 27/10/2026 19:13

I'm worried there will be come back on me for some reason.

Well you either put up with it or you don't, I suppose.

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 27/10/2026 19:14

It won’t stop unless it gets reported and someone has to. Clearly the manager trying a nice approach of a gentle chat hasn’t worked so it needs to be escalated.

BriarTime · 27/10/2026 19:15

Sounds like it’s part of the shitty culture there. Would you consider a different job? Not saying you should have to move, but if this kind of thicko stuff is ingrained in the culture you’re likely to find that reporting it will be ineffective.

Skybluecoat · 27/10/2026 19:44

I would raise a formal grievance against them but I take no prisoners.

OneZanyPoet · 27/10/2026 19:48

I would document it for a week then report to HR. In the meantime I would try and get the ineffectual manager to admit in a paper trail that they had taken it up with the employee and had no effect.

I’ve voted YABU because you say you’re ’scared to speak up’.

Everyone has a responsibility to speak up, if even to say, let’s agree to disagree. Silence is complicity.
