I'm freezing. My feet feel icy all the time despite layering up. It's so unpleasant.

Thermal socks, lotd of layers and a blanket help me when its cold 🥶

RedThroatedWarbler · 27/10/2026 18:42

Same here. We just got back from a week in Morocco at 30C + so the drop in temp has been really exaggerated. It feels like we went away in late summer and came back in winter.

LlynTegid · 27/10/2026 18:44

It might be less unpleasant if we had not put the clocks back, and at least the drop in temperatures each evening might be after you had left work.

I am arthritic and don’t have much meat on me. I treated myself to a heated throw.

I may never leave my sofa!

Lallybroch · 27/10/2026 18:50

I'm sat here under a heated throw right now. It's the best present I've ever received - that and a heated gillet. I'm either red hot or freezing cold and nothing in between.

DelilahBucket · 27/10/2026 18:54

I am too and I have a shop that is absolutely freezing. I'm struggling to work now so I'm dreading another 10 degree drop.

YelliwFinnTuner · 27/10/2026 18:57

Solidarity! Also, once I feel cold I struggle to warm myself up even with tons of layers etc.
I swear by an oodie (the proper brand one and not a copy) and electric blanket, also a hot water bottle on my lower back.

ChicOliveCritic · 27/10/2026 19:00

Was just about to say something similar. The only way I've been able to cope with the temperature change is by rooting out my heated throws and blankets and placing them on the bed and sofa. I love them so much and it makes the season change so much more bearable.😊

What sort of temperatures have you all got? I also have the cold feet problem, but those kind of temperatures haven’t hit yet. So I’m guessing you guys are in different parts of country.

TheFinalNotch · 27/10/2026 19:18

This is my go to. Temp dropped to 11 degrees in my house last year and I didnt notice. I saw the dog shivvering and realised! Opps..! Do this:

  • Primark fleece lined leggings. You dont feel a thing with these on, even when stepping into the literal icy snow blozzard- it's really quite extraordinary. Game changer for £6 a pair.
  • Slipper socks, the thick kind. If you have very cold feet put them over a "normal" pair of socks
  • M&S long sleeve thermal top, it's about £22. Wear this under whatever else you're wearing.the long sleeve thing really helped with cold hands.
LittleGreenDragons · 27/10/2026 21:24

I find tea and coffee do not warm me up enough, I need something "thicker" to get warm. I have a cupasoup midmorning, and an instant hot chocolate in the evening, and that helps a lot.

Otherwise I wear a thermal t-shirt underneath and when it’s really cold I wear the knee high socks to get rid of the airgap around the ankles/calf. Blanket across my lap for TV, with another one rolled up between the sofa and the floor which stops the draught. It's surprising how much it helps.

Hope all the people who moaned about the heatwave are happy now.
Didn't last long did it

What didn't last long?

I moaned about the heatwave. I am not moaning about the cold weather since I prefer it. It seemed like the person was asking for tips so I shared some.

Some people will have moaned about the hot weather, preferring the cooler climate. They may be more comfortable in this weather than the extreme heat.

Other people may be the opposite.

Some people might not mind either way.

People are often different to one another
