Toddler and possible raw chicken

I cooked a small chicken thigh for around 40 minutes. The oven was initially around 170–180°C, then I turned it up to 190–200°C for the final 13 minutes. The skin was crispy and the chicken was piping hot.

My little boy only ate the outer layer, which was definitely white and shredded easily. I know the meat nearer the bone can look slightly pinker or browner. It was paprika chicken, so I washed the leftover piece before taking this photo.

I'm quite an anxious person and now I'm panicking that it might not have been fully cooked. Has anyone been in a similar situation and fed their toddler chicken they later worried about? Just looking for some reassurance from other mums. ❤️

That chicken thigh will have been cooked

MyballsareSandy2015 · 27/10/2026 18:40

Def cooked, esp for that time .. try not to worry!

Peonies12 · 27/10/2026 18:42

That looks completely cooked.

SauvignonBlancLady · 27/10/2026 18:45

Looks fine, perfectly cooked

Saturdaysfairies · 27/10/2026 18:46

Your child is fine. No worries.

Perfumepanda · 27/10/2026 18:50

Looks cooked to me - in future for certainty i’d recommend a food probe like this - I probe everything I cook from raw gives me peace of mind

Looks fine. Chicken thigh can be deceiving as often the cooked meat looks pink.

Use a probe in future.

Katemax82 · 27/10/2026 19:04

If you're anxious get a meat thermometer they're cheap. That chicken looked fine but it will give you piece of mind
Edited as I noticed everyone else suggested a thermometer. They're really invaluable

cestlavielife · 27/10/2026 19:05

Cooked and fine

Jc2001 · 27/10/2026 19:36

That will be cooked. If it makes you feel more confident knowing meat is properly cooked buy yourself a temperature probe to test that meat is cooked inside. They're really effective and cheap.

Chicken thigh often looks pink even when cooked. You cooked it longer enough and it looks cooked to me. So I wouldn’t worry.

Thank you everyone! I usually use and instant meat thermometer but I’ve misplaced it. I’ve ordered a new one.

It’s absolutely fine

That's absolutely fine and obviously so especially after being blasted like that. Please seek some support for your anxiety.

Same as yesterday's panic, you panicking will do more harm

AppropriateAdult · Yesterday 17:37

That’s overcooked, if anything, for a thigh.

You again. You repeatedly post about stuff like this. I normally don’t notice repeat posters but you’ve had so many threads that are all your health anxiety talking. You really need to seek help - this will be damaging for your child if you don’t get on top of it.
