To think this will be a future "lessons should have been learned" case

But they won't have been learned.

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2026/10/27/teenager-stabbed-girl-judge-ian-lawrie/

Boy stabbed girl 10 times in "frenzied" attack because she didn't want to go out with him and was let off because he's too bright to go to jail.

Firstly anyone who stabs anyone should do a period in jail.

Secondly, isn't this toerag going to be like the crossbow killer in a decade or so's time? A girlfriend will finish with him and he'll murder her (and possibly others).

What was this judge thinking?

That is horrific. The judge is basically saying that stabbing a girl is no big deal, and her life, feelings, trauma are negligible. Poor girl; can’t imagine how she and her family are feeling.

I hope there will be a huge outcry about this.

Is this another one of these cases or the same one from a few weeks ago?

Edit: It’s the same one. I was honestly terrified it was another similar case in only a few weeks.

The violent baby incel is a danger to women and girls.

How that poor girl must feel!

the video credit here says “Gloucestershire” so is this a different stabbing to the one in Norwich?

I didn't know it had already been reported. Is there another thread on it?

No, it’s the same one I was thinking of based on the video in the shop.

I don’t know if it has been reported here so this thread is fine. I was just wondering if it was two identical cases in a matter of weeks.

He stabbed two people! The shopkeeper tried to intervene and was also stabbed. This decision seems completely crazy…

and this “You’re not to contact directly or indirectly by any means, social media or otherwise, [the victim] and her mother, and also keep out of mischief.” KEEP OUT OF MISCHIEF? He planned to and then repeatedly stabbed two people!

Saturdaysfairies · 27/10/2026 16:57

Awful. Really awful.
Sometimes I understand the concept of revenge and taking the law into one's own hands.

Scarydinosaurs · 27/10/2026 17:42

The link to the bbc above is about a stabbing a female student in a school - so two very similar cases (in so much the victims were female and the age).

bridgetreilly · 27/10/2026 17:46

Can’t ruin a boy’s life, never mind that he’s ruined a girl’s life. It’s utterly grim.

Irritableowlwan · 27/10/2026 18:10

A few years ago in Ireland a man attacked a woman for no reason walking down the street and the judge did not want to impose a sentence because it would cost this fella his army career. No thoughts to what he put the woman through. It was overturned I think and the scumbag went to prison but why on earth are males treated still like they are superior? Awful awful news.

RaininSummer · 27/10/2026 18:30

Horrible. A bright psycho is more frightening than a stupid one I think.

ErroltheSwampDragon · 27/10/2026 18:40

The would-be murder should be in prison and the judge should be sacked.

I'd suggest putting in a request for an unduly lenient sentence review but you need the name of the offender and they haven't shared it to protect him. No consideration of the need to protect this girl and others from being attacked.

LlynTegid · 27/10/2026 18:42

The lenient sentence review process should now be brought in for this case. And preferably the judge dismissed.

FannyCann · 27/10/2026 18:43

This happened in Cirencester, which is near me. Coincidentally I noticed a bleed control kit outside Waterstones a couple of weeks ago and wondered if Cirencester now had a problem with knife crime.

I’ve also seen a notice about one in a quiet nearby village. Unfortunately the instructions for the location of the kit have been handwritten in ink which has faded in the sun so I wouldn’t be able to locate it. 🤷‍♀️

Yes, this is a bit more than a matter of “keeping out of mischief”. What is wrong with these judges FFS.

“stabbed her at least 10 times, inflicting cuts to her neck, hands and face.”

She will be scarred and may well have life changing injuries to her hand. If tendons are severed as a result of defence injuries they can be very troublesome to heal.

A colleague of DD in London was walking home at night with flatmates when two people accosted them. They judged that five against two was a fair defence but the man started punching them to the ground while the female transformed into a stabby ninja. All five sustained injuries, one was stabbed eight times and DD’s friend was lucky not to lose an eye as she rained stabs at his face. He put up his hand in defence and tendons were severed. Working in IT but six months later he can’t type with that hand. It was a miracle no one died but needless to say the police response was less than enthusiastic although I think they did finally get arrested. Not sure of the final outcome.

I thought today I wonder what would happen if AI was also a judge on cases, just for reference...
