this isn’t about me but my son

my ex walked away 3 months ago and blocked my 16 years old son

im worried how
will this affect my 16 year old boy? Has anyone else’s ex walked away from your kids before ? How has it affected them?

I was happy for him to stay in contact with my son but he said he. Couldn’t :(

i just feel sorry for my son :(

Well it’s done know, I’d say you’re all he needs. You can be the stable one x

MellowSubmarine · 27/10/2026 16:05

I assume from your wording that your ex isn’t his father?

I’d imagine the impact it will have will be heavily dependent on the length of your relationship, and the type of relationship your son had with him. I mean, raised him since birth vs you met him a year ago would look very different.

GoldenDeliciouss · 27/10/2026 16:06

is it his father?

is it his father?

Obviously not.

GoldenDeliciouss · 27/10/2026 16:48

oh no ive just realised who is it 🤦🏻‍♀️

wfhinpjs · 27/10/2026 16:52

He only had a relationship with your son because he was in a relationship with you. No matter how much your son grew attached to him, that relationship was only ever going to survive if your relationship with your ex lasted.

You ex needs to move on completely and have no ties to past relationships to do this. Ties to past relationships are due to sharing biological kids. Most people would rather not have any ties to their ex but in some instances this can’t be helped. This isn’t one of those instances.

Your 16 yo will get over it and understand fully the reason why the ties were cut once he matures.

Who?

Peachghost · 27/10/2026 17:40

You need therapy. Whether this situation is genuine or not, you need therapy.

TheGrimSqueakersFlea · 27/10/2026 17:54

@TheOpalFox Stop it. You had a thread recently where you were making progress, now you're back to obsessing.

You can't use your son to keep him in your life. Let him go and keep up the therapy

Irritableowlwan · 27/10/2026 18:49

How long were you with him before you introduced your child to him?

whippersnapper55 · 27/10/2026 18:59

I feel sorry for your son too - your obsession with your ex must be making you very difficult to live with!

Who?

yeah who?

Baconisawesome · 27/10/2026 19:01

My ex partner walked away from my child 2 years ago tomorrow.
best thing that ever happened,
some people don’t deserve to be parents.

Absobeautely · 27/10/2026 19:27

It would be quite weird and inappropriate for an unrelated ex boyfriend to stay in contact with someone's child.
Were you trying to contact him on your son's phone?

ToKittyornottoKitty · 27/10/2026 19:34

Your son’s biggest problem right now is you OP, these threads are out of hand and not helping you. Focus on your son, stop banging on about the ex and keep moving forward

behindtheanimalhouse · 27/10/2026 19:34

OP has posted about this a lot and how she's struggling with the break up, I think that's what PPs meant.

Skybluecoat · 27/10/2026 19:39

For Fox Sake. Will you just stop it?!
