Would you spend your 50th at Disneyland?

Would this be weird?

I'm definitely not a Disney adult 🤣
My Dd has wanted to go for a few years, by my 50th (just over a year away) she will be 9, and it feels like time is running out to take her and for it to be magical.
As cheesy as it sounds, i'm happy to go as it makes me happy to see her happy. Of course I would rather be on a beach in Hawaii, but can't afford that and love Paris and we can see the sights and show her Paris too

It just seems a bit 😂 to spend your 50th there. The last time I was in Paris was for my 30th when we got engaged

Arg so you have been. "Loads of times ".
I'm very surprised you managed to get on loads of rides and do everything you wanted on your first visit ?
We had a pass and it was only on our later visits that we were able to get the best out of park ?
Very hard on a first go and nothing at all like Europa park or efterling where navigation is much easier ,getting on rides is also far easier and generally they are far superior parks in every way.

I didnt say that, we have been 10 times so a fair few, I said you need to research/prep. You have to go once and some point and if you plan well and go for more than one day its fine. The other other parks you mentioned are brilliant but they arent disney so potentially arent the same for OPs DD.

My lot would prefer the other parks now for sure!

FunPreventionOfficer · 27/10/2026 08:26

It would be the perfect choice for me, any excuse to go. Me and DH go regularly, just the two of us and we’re both 50+

Waitingfordoggo · 27/10/2026 08:27

@MacronsPensWiper We’ve been to Europa twice. I really dislike theme parks and don’t go on rides but I enjoyed Europa. The queue times were reasonable and the food was decent. My DCs preferred it to Paris Disney and I imagine it’s a fair bit cheaper. We stayed at the campsite next to the resort and that had a decent restaurant too.

Thisusernameisalwaysavailable · 27/10/2026 08:27

Not in this scenario, no.

Id take her to Disney for her birthday..

And do something else for my 50th, something I wanted to do.

Agreed. Disney isn't everything. Especially DLP, which is good, but there's better places.

We went to PhantasiaLand near Cologne - its Far better than Disney, cheaper, better rides etc.

This just isnt the case though, we have been loads of times with the kids from age 2 upwards and got on plenty of rides, mainly in half term also. You have to plan it well like any other theme park. Staying on site helps as you can go in early You just need to do your prep and make sure you have the app with waiting times etc also.

Too much like hard work.

Go to a different park, you'll get better rides, cheaper tickets, shorter queues, cheaper food, no need to "plan" and use apps and operating like a military mission...

Hey OP I have been as a chikd to Disneyland and Disneyworld (parents too me) and Disneyland Paris as an adult (work trip).

The one in Paris isn’t magical. To me it was a poor knock off and very small
of the others. I remember saying to people I was sorry if this was their Disney experience.

As others have said - it’s an amusement park. Long lines and rides. The magic of Disney wasn’t in Paris. You felt like cause it said you were there you were but it was just an amusement park.

Seeing your daughter happy is worth it but it isn’t worth it for you.

Thats a real shame you didnt have a giod experience, we have done Florida, LA and Paris (Paris last) and we still found Paris magical both with kids and without. The time we struggled a bit it rained most days so we had to plan differently and it was a bit stressful. My 20 yo DS still would happily go, my 18 yo DS doesn't do rides so wouldn't go now. I have been at xmas once which was very magical and would love to go again but prices are crazy now for Nov/Dec.

My 18yo has agreed to go to Florida if I pay and we stayed at Animal Kingdom 🙄

We dont plan it like a military mission, its not that hard 😂 We just dont faff during the 'magic hours' and head for a specific ride first each day, or say when the parade is on if we have seen it already. Going for one day is way too stressful and I agree you wouldnt get on enough.

Duckswaddle · 27/10/2026 08:35

Disneyland is loads of fun! You’ll have a great time together 😀 especially combined with sightseeing in Paris.

Ignore all the boring snobs on here 😆

Phantasialand is amazing, the rides are some of my favourite. I was older than 9 when I went though, i would have been disappointed to have not been tall enough for everything there.

No chance on this planet, or any of birthdays at all ever

This is what I would do, if I could afford it.

Bubstar · 27/10/2026 08:41

Yes I would, I've been to 4 Disney parks as an adult though. But I don't identify as a Disney adult 😂

This is me, I do travel a lot and just so happened to have visited a lot of Disney parks. Then four years ago I made a new friend who lives in Orlando so I’ve been another couple of times, just me and her for the day.

Then you've missed the memo about people with unusual places of birth (Trump's shithole countries list) being questioned for hours and occasionally refused entry. It won't happen to me because I wouldn't set foot in the country while the orange paedophile is alive.

I did actually take my daughter to Eurodisney when it first opened but would have no interest in going as an adult - even if I was paid.

I'm afraid I disagree that Trump is discriminating against British nationals. In the long list of countries that are banned or restricted by US immigration, the UK doesn't feature.

I agree that Trump and his policies are completely abhorrent and it's a completely legitimate reason to avoid travelling to the USA, but don't pretend it's because you're British. It sounds strangely as if you're trying to appropriate the victimhood of the people he is actually discriminating against, instead of showing solidarity with them.

It's my place of birth not my nationality that I'm concerned about since I get second looks and questions on entering EU countries. It doesn't bother me as I don't want to go anyway.

Maybe I misread your post, in which case I apologise. It wasn't hugely clear, in my defence! But I think I understand now that you were not born in the UK?! In which case that makes much more sense! Sorry!

And sorry for the derail. As you were Blush

HealthyLiquorice · 27/10/2026 10:01

I went for my 50th last year with my two teenage daughters. We are definitely not a Disney family, but we had a great time. It was just before Christmas too, so all the decorations were up. I also had a weekend away with girlfriends, and a family meal, but DLP was something special to do with just me and my kids. You should go for it.

Coincidentally, I was also at DLP for my 40th - although I promise I am not a Disney fanatic! 😁

CallMeDaphne · 27/10/2026 10:03

I would rather shove wasps up my arse.

Aw, you're so cool to not like Disney that much 🙄 why even comment if you have nothing useful to add to the OPs questions.

Honestly this thread is an eye opener, and to think a poster upthread said Disney adults were immature 😂

AnotherEmma · 27/10/2026 07:46

Silly post.
Firstly, OP's talking about going to Disneyland Paris, not Disneyworld Florida.
Secondly, have I missed the memo about the USA suddenly deciding not to allow British tourists?! 🤣

haha IKR. Plus if someone PAID you to go of course you would 🤣

And to HATE Disney is pretty strong, unsure how it gets to hate rather than just a minor dislike

This! They’re insufferable aren’t they, hating Disney with zero clue about what it is actually like.

Minasama · 27/10/2026 10:20

Completely up to you, if you want to. Are you married, what does DH think? Don’t do it if he hates it there, have some couples time away.
