Teeth straightening - online dentist

Has anyone gone with an alternative to Invisalign and can give me some insight?

The online only systems seem to offer the same or similar treatment for about a quarter of the cost.
I suppose it isn’t as thorough as in person treatment with a dentist and may be more risky. But I think so much of it is done with AI/ technology anyway, does it really make such a difference. I’ve had the trays/ moulds made up before at the dentist for whitening and they send them off to an external dentist anyway, so it’s outsourced regardless?

If anyone has any experience would be grateful. I have been quoted £1,400 for the online one and £5200 with another (includes £450 of composite I wouldn’t get with the other service). It’s a big difference of £3,400. I’d expect there might be a few add ons with the online one so say £3k difference. I am very U for not having looked into the fine print before asking for advice.

First off you should be having an in-depth check up and x rays from the person doing your treatment.

Doing your own impressions is very unlikely to produce models accurate enough to produce accurately fitting alligners. It takes a dentist a long time to learn how to do accurate impressions , or to do good scans.

With alligner systems you are given a computer generated treatment plan, however very often things do not go as planned and you need more alligners, or attachments or swapping to a fixed system.

With any brace system regular check ups with the person providing treatment is essential as braces put considerable force on teeth and if not supervised and ,if necessary adjusted, can result in damage to roots or loss of teeth.

Every dentist will probably have seen people with damaged or lost teeth from remote alligners.

With any type of brace you will only do it once , pay an orthodontist to treatment plan and oversee the healthiest and best treatment plan for you.

I had Invisalign. Honestly, you need to see someone qualified and in person. During the treatment all sorts of things need to be monitored such as gum recession, whether or not your bite is correct, I’ve had “buttons”, the little nodules that attach to the teeth to give the liners grip enough to move the teeth, changed and altered through the treatment. I’ve been advised to keep one or
two trays on much longer than the expected week because moving on to the next one would have compromised bone and gum health. Please don’t do this!
