Being inappropriate or am I too much

This evening, my partner, myself and our adult daughter were having a very serious discussion about our eldest son and his very abusive girlfriend. A very frank and very upsetting conversation. My partner described our sons girlfriend as getting 'damp' in certain situations. I can't help but find that description horrible and upsetting. Am I being unreasonable?

I think it depends on exactly what your DP was referring to. If you didn't like it, surely you just tell him so?

Did you ask him what he meant by that? Seems the obvious thing to ask ... "what do you mean "damp"?"

Leaving aside the sexual connotations, it doesn't actually make sense.

Eta Your thread title doesn't make much sense either tbh

Did he use it in terms of how Americans say "he's got a hard on for that car"?

Personally its a fairly grim expression but could sum up a woman who lusts after things and wants them.

But there are much much better ways of putting it

Bloody hell, that’s grim.

it was an open discussion no issue with that
