Friends’ perfumes

Some of my friends wear what, for me personally, are really overpowering perfumes. I’m just back from a lovely afternoon out, but my friend’s perfume of choice is now transferred onto my clothes and now I’m home I find it really cloying. Is this just me being a bit precious?

Don’t know if precious is the right word.

You just don’t like it and that’s ok, you don’t have to.

I had a friend who liberally applied Marc Jacobs daisy and to this day I gag when I smell it off someone. Not sure if it was the scent being overpowering or the fact she marinated in it though.

Just change your clothes if it’s bothering you?

Funnily enough I had a friend who wore that and it made my sons gag..they still can't bear it if smell ot in the street for example

I don’t like flowerbomb or angel for women, and can’t stand joop for men.

most other perfumes I can bear though

I don't know why some people overdo the perfume. I feel the same as you, OP. I come home from seeing a friend stinking of her horrible perfume.

Similar to if you are in the vicinity of a smoker eh?

Exactly. If you walk past people in the street smoking and come home smelling of it - take a shower and change your clothes.

if your friends smoking or perfume offends you so deeply and you can’t handle it - you can chose to not hang out with them.

live and let live

I had a summer job in duty free at the airport years ago - literally stood handing out perfume samples some days and I used to feel sick after a shift - sometimes I’d be there at 5am spraying the stuff and handing it out ! I’d leave with headaches at the end.

i can’t wear any perfume to this day and can’t stand the smell of any

YANBU not to like perfume. You feel however you feel.

YABU if you think your sensitivity to perfume is anyone else’s problem. It’s not your friends’ fault that you don’t like it and they can wear whatever perfume they want.
