Mine is fresh bedding!

I work in a hospital so will be expected to work through any sort of disastrous event. I would want to keep my normal life going as long as possible so I have two duvet/sheet sets washed and dried this weekend and stored away, with dryer sheets to keep them smelling fresh.

For this reason I’ve also got a load of dry shampoo in!

Why do we need a new thread every day about stockpiling?

3 days worth of supplies is the consensus.

A weekly shop is 7 days worth.

Just do your weekly shop like normal.

Turnsoutnot · 25/10/2026 19:47

do you usually not have a set of clean bedding ready?

I usually just wash and put the same one back on

I was thinking the same thing.

Some people really do seem to live day to day. It's the same with food.

It was intended to be a more light hearted thread.

Why do you need clean bedding?

in an emergency flood or power cuts and weather incident, surely bedding isn’t going to be your priority

Again, it was meant to be lighthearted. If I’m going to be living without power, the least I can have is a clean duvet cover

In a long lasting emergency having things that make you feel nice are well worth while

you may well end up snuggling in bed for many hours against the cold so make it a nice as you can experience?

Exactly!

I also think we should be expecting a global supply chain breakdown, so I’ve got all my Christmas shopping sorted. We have young kids in the family and u want to make things feel normal for them.

So you bought new bedding? Is that what you mean?

No, I have more than one set, but I don’t alternate weekly.

I’m really confused. Don’t you normally have two sets washed and ready given you can only have one set on at a time?

hopeyourethereinthemornin · 25/10/2026 20:23

No, I have more than one set, but I don’t alternate weekly.

And the other set is generally dirty?

and so you cleaning it and ensuring you have a spare one clean is not the norm as the spare is usually dirty?

Me too confused. Looks like the spare set is generally dirty!

Christ above I forgot that people on here are unable to do anything even slightly lighthearted

Oh come on… you have started a bloody weird thread!

SuitcaseAndSecrets · 25/10/2026 20:30

Duvet/ sheets? Don't you have many sets? I live alone and have 10 sets of duvet covers and sheets in my airing cupboard.. .. I'm not doing anything.. it will be what it will be.. l always keep my kindle and phone charged.. that's it.

Turnsoutnot · 25/10/2026 20:30

So your spare set is generally dirty and by washing it you have prepped for the apocalypse. Got it.

This. The only thing I don't have in is bottled water but I certainly have three day's worth of gin and tonic and enough alcohol to get the whole street drunk so I consider that covered. 😊

Sunshineandrainbow · 25/10/2026 20:35

My understanding is that if there is no water supply and water is precious and won't be used for much laundry. Now you have washed that specific set that will be saved for a such an event?

I only have one set and wash and it goes straight back on same day. I maybe need more!

AleaEim · 25/10/2026 20:35

I have no stash as of yet, we’ll have to starve so.

JulietteRoche · 25/10/2026 20:36

ENOUGH with these threads!

Zanatdy · 25/10/2026 20:36

So far i’ve only purchased 6 bottles of bottled water to store in the shed. Plus 2 pot noodles but aware may not be able to make them. May purchase small camping stove. Not going mad, but am going to withdraw some cash on pay day to keep in the house. Moved house recently so useful anyway for paying tradies.

This one is at least a bit different in that it’s…well a bit odd!

gamerchick · 25/10/2026 20:37

Heh oddly I went through my bedding cupboard to put sheets with cover into a pillow case so it's grabbable and it seems pillow cases are like tupperware lids. They've been replaced with ones that don't go.

The whole blackout thing gave me the push to go and get a leasure battery. Im a little in love with it and really laughed at some of the reviews about electric fences.
