To think this is a decent day of eating?

I have prepped food for tomorrow and my partner says it’s awful, but I think it’s decent!

Breakfast is baked oats - whey protein added and made with dark chocolate chips and some frozen raspberries. 420 calories and 33g of protein.

Lunch - chicken pie with baby potatoes. Lighter puff pastry used. 520 calories and 54g of protein.

Dinner - beef stew. Beef, potatoes, vegetables and gravy.

Snacks - light Greek yoghurt with stewed berries, and a packet of popchips.

Total - 1511 calories, 137g of protein and 37g of fibre.

I’m on a weight loss journey and will go to the gym before work tomorrow. I think it’s balanced, provides all my fruit and veg for the day (8 portions), hits my goals (im more worried about fibre than protein) and is genuinely tasty wholesome food.

YABU - this is unhealthy.

YANBU - it’s a good day of food.

Didn't get past page 5 so I apologise if it's been said but, you are showing us this as your best day and you are really happy with it, correct?

OH has an issue because he prefers protein shakes twice a day over eating meals?

I'd always pick actual food over a shake but if this is your best day, what is your worst?

Gz on the big weight loss, 9 stone is an entire person and it's not a joke to be going to the gym and working out your macros you've done brilliant.

And I mean this so very very kindly but, it's not a race yeah, 3lbs a week is ALOT even at 15 stone, if you are doing the gym I would up your food and work out hard because if you are losing 3lbs a week steadily after 2.5 years then something is missing here, it doesn't quite add up to me in terms of health.

Slow it down and raise muscle don't ruin yourself chasing the number on the scales because the number won't mean much if you aint healthy

I don’t know if anyone has pointed this out, but to get accurate calories you need to be putting cooked chicken/beef etc. in your app because they have more calories than raw. You may be underestimating by 3-400 calories on the pie and stew alone. That said, if this diet works for you then who cares? 130lb lost is in an incredible achievement 🙌

Wrong. You should weigh raw as it’s more accurate - you can’t guarantee the same cooking method and water loss etc

Well tonight I’ve had sausage chips and beans for dinner but I’m still in my deficit 😂 Monday to Friday is really the same as this as I like a steady meal prep

I didn’t say I think it’s the healthiest ever. But some of the comments have been unnecessarily harsh!

You’re being charitable calling them “harsh” tbh, they’ve been completely batshit.

Can you tell me more about this porridge that’s like eating cake for breakfast please? 👀 How do you make it?!

DeftGoldHedgehog · 25/10/2026 17:29

I don't know how heavy you are but reading about eating that much protein made my kidneys hurt in sympathy.

Baked oats! Use oat flour instead of rolled oats

I think counting every calorie and gram
of protein sounds a miserable way to live

So everything in a bowl and mix then eat straight away, or is this an overnight affair?

I can’t believe more people are commenting on your menus and calories than are mentioning your arsey cockwomble of a partner having a go
at your choices when you have lost 9 stone already and continue to lose steadily!

Well done

I can think of a way you can lose many more stones of uselessness - ditch the partner!

PS- well done on the weight loss 🥳

You don’t have to, the Nutra app does it for you.

Could I get away with doing it in an air fryer?

Hmm. Possibly. I got my recipe from ChatGPT

Why 😂

It’s another old wives tale. It’s based on the real issues that can be had when a patient with CKD eats too much protein.

Becomingolder · 25/10/2026 17:39

The replies to this thread is hilarious. How can it be 'far to much food' and tiny portions all at the same time.

Well done on the weight loss OP, it's seriously impressive. Your food sounds fab, I also need a certain amount of carbs to feel full and stay on track.

As for your DP. Huel meal replacement shakes? I got about two 'mouthfulls' in before it went in the bin. They aren't exactly food or in any way healthy so he doesn't have a leg to stand on.

A beef casserole with pots for under 400 cals sounds wrong. Is it a v small portion?

Hellohelga · 25/10/2026 17:44

Honestly and oats breakfast then chicken pie lunch and casserole dinner sounds huge. Unless portions are v v small like french women do.

Why 😂

I go to the gym 3 x a week plus swim and do yoga on top of that. Couldn't eat a ton of meat twice a day or handle a load of artificial whey protein first thing in the morning. If it works for you then great, but I find 80-100g a day is ample and it's all from actual food and no supplements. I also get plenty of protein from plant, fish and dairy sources. Pastry and a meat heavy day are ok once in a while but I wouldn't take this day as a template. Gut health and cholesterol are also key. Fibre is more important than protein.

Edited

Which is why I’m also getting nearly 37g of fibre

WHYYYYYYYYY

Because most processed food has all the real goodness processed out. Natural youghert/butter/milk/vegetables do not contain everything to support life/natural health. Synthetic milk/oil/sauces/cereals have by law have to have added calories/vitamins. Look on the packets: added vitamin C, added calcium etc. You don't see that on the fresh cauliflower, broccoli, spinach, cabbage, carrots, onions, milk, cheese, oats etc. The products that are naturally healthy do not have added "goodness"!

Dillydollydingdong · 25/10/2026 17:55

Good food, perfect for this time of year, and a very reasonable calorie count. Where's the problem?

Disturbia81 · 25/10/2026 17:57

You do what works for your body! I’m a big chocolate lover and eat 13 protein bars a day, as well as fruit vegetables and meat. It keeps my weight off and stops me falling off the wagon. A lot of people wouldn’t be able to eat that way. But it works for my body (size 10)
I lost over 9 stone and have kept it off 7 years. We know what works.
On a separate note, your husband is very controlling.
