Is it rude to do work at a party?

Soft play type party, but parents stay. Party is a few hours long, my Dc is old enough to go around by herself and for me keep an occasional eye on her (8)
I have lots to prepare for tomorrow and had another party yesterday, would I be rude to sit and do my work? obviously after initial coffee and chatting to hosts and checking on my Dd periodically

Not rude at that age, surprised that parents need to stay for an 8 year old. wouldn’t really find it acceptable if your child was say 3.

Yes totally rude, can someone else not take her or do you need to stay for an 8 year old?

That’s fine as long as you join in any necessary bits eg singing happy birthday, etc and don’t get totally focused on your work.

Why would it be rude? Unless I knew the other parents really well at soft play parties and wanted to chat I would just take a book and hide in the corner.

I'm really surprised you have to stay, at 8 she won't need to be supervised.

I would absolutely take work to do if you're being expected to hang around soft play unnecessarily for a few hours.
