Stocking up on food etc ...

So who's doing it?

I have an extra cupboard at home that over past couple weeks ive been stocking food in. Pasta/Rice, dried foods, cans, sauces etc . ..

I've even made up an emergency box, it contains ....

Torches, batteries, first aid kit, propane gas for portable camping stove, candles, a battery operated radio, battery operated phone chargers, matches etc ...

We have a generator as last time we had a bad storm, it was in January and our electric was off for 3 days ... we had no heat at all. I dont have gas heating, just oil which the pump doesnt come on with no electric .. so we used the generator for that ...

AIBU? Anyone else as mad as me an my hubby 🤭🤭🤭🤭 if so what else do you have that i need to get lol ...

Lots of people are doing it. There are already enough current threads to have suggested shopping lists for every possible permutation of eventualities until the end of time. Go and discuss it there.

You're allowed to start a thread about whatever you like, they could have ignored it if it bothered them so much!
I've put together a box with 2 lanterns, extra batteries for the torches, a wind up radio and a power bank. Stuff I already had but thought it was a good idea to put together in one place.
I need to do a first aid box really.
And I always have a decent stock of food in just because that's how I've always been. Also bottles of water. Helps when there are announcements like this to not have to go running to the shops. I do need to get some premade bottles of formula though.
My worry is how to heat the house if we're without power for a while.
We've got a camping cooker to heat food and water.
If you can find the German or Norwegian information booklets their government have sent their residents then that's a useful guide.

Thank you .. sounds like we got most things thats needed. Medication is another one, the government tell u to make sure if ur on medication to make sure you have enough, but we arnet allowed to order in advance in our clinic lol.. so dunno how that will work.
My lights are flickering now with the storm, im in Northern Ireland so it's hitting hard here, I might be needing that emergency box soon enough lol ...
