To have stopped saying thank you

When other people do housework?

I realised the other day I always say thank you when one of the kids of husband does a job in the house.

Nobody ever says thank you to me.

I'm not saying it anymore.

Good! I have stopped saying 'for me'..as in 'can you put this in the tumble dryer for me'...its for everyone's benefit.
Its a small thing but matters.

"I did washing up for you" NOPE you did it because it needed doing not for me.
Telling you they've done it is implementing it's your responsibility and they've done you a favour by doing it for you.
They live there too. I always say thank you when someone cooks a meal, makes me a hot drink ect.

I don't think you should stop saying thank you - I think they should say it to you.

I used to ask dh if he wanted a sticker...

DH likes to tell me when he’s done a job. I emptied the dishwasher this morning. For example

i tend to reply differently depending on the mood I’m in

‘I emptied it yesterday’
’well done you’
’ wow, let’s arrange the ticker tape parade’
’why did I need to know that?’

the frequency of him telling me has certainly reduced over the years

Always thank someone if they’ve made me a meal and would expect the same back.

Another good one! I say this too sometimes.

I bought some gold stars and put one on his top everytime he told me that he had done something. He wasn't amused.

I used to keep one of those kids plastic gold medals on a ribbon in the kitchen drawer and get it out if anyone said, “I’ve done …… for you!”
