We’ve got friends staying with us from yesterday until Monday am, nothing wrong with that, love them, & it’s been a long time organising this. Going to a fancy restaurant for a tasting menu with matching wines tomorrow night, definitely not cheap.

Ive suffered with chronic sinusitis for a couple of years now, tried all sorts steroid nasal sprays etc, this week I’ve lost all smell & taste again! 🤦‍♀️ ( it’s definitely not Covid) got dinner cooking, Duck in black bean sauce which is nearly finished, friends & DH says it smells lovely & I’m just smiling & agreeing, tomorrow is going to be awfully dissapointing, but I’m not going to spoil it for everyone else by saying I can’t smell or taste a thing!
cant do a thing about it, that’s what’s the frustrating thing.
At least I’ve got good company I guess.

Maybe try having allergy tests done and acupuncture, OP.
Sinus issues are very undermining.
Enjoy your.wknd.

I think it's very weird to lie about this, if they are friends just be real and enjoy what you can.
I've a friend who lost taste/smell, he still enjoys socialising in restaurants, no need to fake anything.

I’m not going to outright tell them, including my DH, we only get together once a year, they live abroad & we are all foodies, hence fancy meal & wine.
i will enjoy it, just not as much as I would have liked.
