Advert for Alexa or whatever it is, about a bloke expecting his family and getting his swearing out of his system. Alex thing says 'I'll play some loud music so the neighbours dont call the cops'

We dont have 'the cops' in this country we have the police

Its bad enough teens refer to 'da feds' like they're little grimy New York gangsters, we dont need grown ups using stupid terms like 'cops'.

I don't mind cops, because 'coppers' has been in use in the UK for over 100 years - it's in 'My Old Man Said, Follow the Van'!

I don't like "I could care less" because it's illogical!

I think "Cops" as a shortening for Coppers has been around at least as long in this country as in the US.

But cops is short for coppers - just don't say it with an American accent!

I hate 'the filth', I think that's such a nasty saying.

My gran always called them Bobbies. I think this, Peelers or Coppers have been around for ages. Feds is an Americanism.

Rozzers or the po po here. But if Happy Mondays can call the cops, I'm in.

I’m in my 50s and still call them the Feds but it’s in a slightly ironic ‘down wiv da yoof’ way.

The UK has used ‘the pigs’ for years and yet that’s offensive.

I’ve heard Five-Oh, (as in Hawaii 5-0) usually from Liverpool people, I think that’s funny

They were Americanising the term though for the song.

I lived in London for 15 years and thankfully no one I lived or worked with said that phrase - I know it exists of course, I just think that and 'pigs' is just nasty.

Yes it has - you might not have heard it but I certainly have. During the London riots I remember our Director of Finance coming for a meeting with my boss and saying to me: "Hmm, we might have to put out a message to staff Arlanymor, as there are cops at the end of our road!" I promise you he was not American!
