Should she reply to my messages

I haven’t really got on with my mum for years. Since having a baby she’ll message me, but only asking about the baby, no greeting, asking after me or sign off. Can I have a photo or how is she, that kind of thing. I always respond with detail, not just a one word answer or a couple of pictures…and then nothing. She never answers, no thanks, no carrying on the conversation, no saying baby looks sweet. Just nothing.

It’s absolutely screwing with me. However horrible she’s been I’ve always wanted her approval. I keep answering hoping she’ll come back into the conversation.

Am I wrong thinking these kind of messages need a response? Would I be wrong to just stop answering?

Stop replying, that’s awful on her part.

Drop the rope.

Match her energy. Just send a photo with one sentence.

Just answer a text question with one or two sentences. “Yeh baby’s doing well. Sleeping through the night now.”

Stop writing more than that. See how it goes.

Nah. A thumbs up emoji will be enough.

Why are you even replying ? Treat her exactly the same. You will never get what you need from her so continuing to search for it is only going to make YOU deeply unhappy. She is fine to treat you this way. So don’t allow her to.

I guess I just second guess myself. If I didn’t respond she’d kick off, but if I said it’s because she doesn’t answer my replies she’d say I’m being over sensitive

You get to decide who you are. My advice is to do an honest self inventory, like a disinterested observer. If you share faukt, own that. If you don't, that's the other person's issue.

In this case she is clearly wrong. So you act accordingly.
